FILM4 FRIGHTFEST is the UK's premiere fantasy and horror film festival. Now in it's ninth year, each August thousands of genre fans gather together in the heart of London's West End at the prodigious Odeon West End cinema for five packed days of premieres, previews, personal appearances, signings and surprises.

PostcardfromCanes1aPOSTCARDS FROM CANNES Each year the FrightFest "boys" scour the world visiting film festivals and events looking for the best fantasy and horror films to present back in London each August Bank Holiday weekend at the FILM4 FrightFest. In their Postcards from the various events, you can read about what they get up to, the interesting and not so interesting people that they meet , and more importantly, find out what they think of the films that they see.

In their first trip of 2008, the boys are off to the South of France and the Cannes Film Festival. Each day from the 13th of May, one of the boys will be posting an update reporting the going ons. To read the postcards click the Postcards from Cannes link on the left hand side of this page or click here.

DescentGirlsDOOMSDAY DAY The second of the FrightFest spring screening days and the final event before tickets for August's five day gore fest go on sale, was held in the Odeon West End on Saturday 3rd of May. Over three hundred FrightFesters, many who had traveled long distances to be in London for the day, enjoyed screenings of Dog Soldiers, The Descent and Doomsday. The films where all introduced by director Neil Marshall, who also welcomed cast and crew members to the stage to talk about their experiences working on Neil's three films. Flash bulbs went into overdrive when the Descent girls took to the stage. See the picture above. Fans also snapped up copies of the limited signed edition D-Day poster and t-shirt. Thanks to Neil Jenkins and Louisa Cowie, who kindly sent in pictures, a gallery of D-Day images has been posted here.

FRIGHTFEST TICKETS Tickets for the FILM4 FrightFest go on sale on Saturday 28th of June to members of the Sleepy Queue. Full details about the tickets for this years festival can be found here.

FRIGHTFEST WANTS YOUR FILMS The submission process for the FILM4 FrightFest 2008 is now open. We welcome short and long form fantasy and horror films. Just a note on short films. Although we screen short films longer than 15 minutes, this is the exception rather than the rule. Full details on how to submit your film and the 2008 submission form can be found here.
