nGLASGOW GUEST LIST KEEPS ON GROWING The already bumper turnout of in-front of and behind the camera talent jetting in to Glasgow on the 26th February for our latest FrightFest Presents event continues to grow. We already have the writer/director of 2001 Maniacs: Field Of Screams Tim Sullivan flying in from the US for the world premiere. FrightFest is delighted to announce that he will be joined by two of the film's stars Christa Campbell and Kathryn Le. They play The Milk Maiden and China Rose. (see the picture to the left) They will be on hand to help Tim introduce his film and will be happy to answer your questions at the Q&A scheduled for after the screening. TIckets are selling fast for what is turning out to be one of our biggest FrightFest Presents events ever. See you all there.

GLASGOW HERE WE COME Can it really be that time of year again? The one where we all head north to Ian’s neck of the woods to spread some FrightFest cheer and fear in Bonnie Scotland? It sure is. We’ve all been having a miserable time of it lately what with the snow, weather and cold minus degree temperatures. So Great Britain’s biggest and best horror fantasy festival will be in Glasgow on Friday February 26th – Saturday 27th for our annual winter warmer to bring you one of our best and guest-astic Glasgow Film Festival line-ups ever.

Forget about being frozen and look forward to FROZEN. Yes, Adam Green’s highly anticipated ski-lift shocker receives it European premiere in Glasgow and to celebrate the HATCHET man will be in town to launch it. One of FrightFest’s most beloved regular guests Adam is actually flying from the set of HATCHET 2 to intro FROZEN because we’ve told him so much about how great the Scottish audience and their hospitality are. So you can’t let us down. You want more star visitors? How’s about CUBE director Vincenzo Natali who will also be on hand to UK premiere SPLICE, his gorgeous Frankenstein fable produced by Guillermo del Toro. The world premiere of 2001 MANIACS: FIELD OF SCREAMS will be introduced by director Tim Sullivan, which John Landis has called “One of the rare sequels that surpasses the original”. Co-directors Helen Cattet and Bruno Forzani, currently the two hottest guests on the festival circuit, will introduce AMER, their amazing homage to all things giallo. We lured them to Glasgow with the fully restored, re-mastered, fully uncut and never-before-seen extra long version of the classic Lucio Fulci giallo, A LIZARD IN A WOMAN’S SKIN. Even Alan’s excited about seeing that one. If that wasn’t enough director Peter Dowling is joining us for his STAG NIGHT, a starry subway shocker. Frightfest launched [REC] on the UK in Glasgow so it’s entirely appropriate we do the same with [REC] 2. And rounding off our exciting weekend is REYKJAVIK WHALE WATCHING MASSACRE, starring Gunnar (Leatherface) Hansen in the first Icelandic exploitation film ever. Plus, as a terror taster the weekend before you can see THE CRAZIES, the remake of George Romero’s 1973 cannibal classic, on Friday 19th at 9.15 pm in the Cineworld Cinema on Renfield Street.

A CONVERSATION WITH CLIVE BARKER FrightFest is delighted to present an exclusive filmed interview with Clive Barker. Filmed at London's Movieum, which is well worth a visit, Alan Jones joined Clive in the old GLC debating chamber to discuss Book of Blood the lasted story from him to be adapted for the big screen. You can see the conversation here.

ANNUAL FRIGHTFEST ALL-NIGHTER excuse the pun, went off with a bang. A full house of FrightFesters from all round the UK filled the ICA for a Halloween night of blood, guts and mayhem. The event featured one world premiere and five UK first screenings, including the highly anticipated UK bow of Paranormal Activity.

The evening got off to a great start with UMBRAGE from Drew Cullingham. Drew's depute feature, stars Doug Bradley as a shady antiques dealer in an offbeat contemporary horror western. The director was in attendance with his cast and was delighted at the reception his film received. George A. Romero's SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD was next up before the midnight screening of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. WRONG TURN 3: LEFT FOR DEAD unspooled next followed by JENNIFER'S BODY starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried. The 2009 FrightFest All-Nighter rapped with Chris Pine, the new Captain Kirk himself, in the soon to be released virus horror film CARRIERS. Thank you to all the FrightFesters who made the effort to attend. Your support, as always, is greatly appreciated.

THE PARTY'S OVER What a roller coaster ride FrightFest was this year. Record numbers of FrightFesters pitched up at the Empire to gorge themselves on the best genre films around. The atmosphere was electric from the very beginning. Large appreciative audiences filled the cinema and the highlights were many. Who can forget John Landis introducing the restored version of An American Werewolf In London or Jim Sturgess singing the haunting theme tune to Heartless. There was also the positive and gratifying fan reaction to the films in the new Discovery Screen, the Douche Brothers, Adam Green and Joe Lynch with their Road To FrightFest films and finally The Human Centipede screening to name just a few. The Empire Cinema, one of the top ten cinemas in the world, proved a perfect setting for this fantastic event. Read more
