11.30 AM - SATURDAY 29TH - SMASH CUT (18) Directed by Lee Demarbre. Starring David Hess, Sasha Grey, Jesse Buck, Michael Berryman, Philip Farmsworth Jr and Herschell Gordon Lewis. CANADA, 2009, 90 minutes. Web Site. Trailer.

UK PREMIERE - David Hess, star of THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT (1972), leads a fabulous cult cast of horror and porn icons in director Lee Demabre’s satire on the independent horror filmmaking industry. Based on the real-life low-budget experiences of featured players Michael Berryman (THE HILLS HAVE EYES, THE DEVIL’S REJECTS), splatter movie godfather Herschell Gordon Lewis (BLOOD FEAST, TWO THOUSAND MANIACS) and adult movie actress Sasha Grey (I WANNA BANG YOUR SISTER, ANAL ACROBATS, Steven Soderbergh’s THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE), Hess gives a dizzying portrayal as Able Whitman, a troubled genre director losing his mind in an extraordinary way. Panned by critics and audiences, until Able starts killing people and using their body parts as props, when his newfound ‘realism’ gets universally acclaimed. But when detective Isaac Beaumonde starts investigating the rash of ‘missing person’ reports, he realizes he’s found the case of a lifetime
