9.00 PM - SATURDAY 29TH - PONTYPOOL (18) Directed by Bruce McDonald. Starring Stephen McHattie, Lisa Houle, Georgina Reilly, Hrant Alianak and Rick Roberts. Canada, 2008, 95 minutes.

1ST LONDON SCREENING - A compelling, gripping and unusual horror built around a uniquely fascinating premise. Disgraced shock jock Grant Mazzy (Stephen McHattie) broadcasts his early morning show at CLSY Radio in Pontypool, Ontario, from the basement of the small town's only church. But what begins as another boring day of local snowstorm related news quickly turns ominously macabre. Bizarre reports start being phoned in of people developing strange speech patterns and evoking horrendous acts of bloody violence. Before long Grant and his staff become trapped in the radio station as they discover this insane behaviour is being caused by a deadly virus spread through the English language. Do they stay on the air hoping for rescue, or are they providing the virus with its ultimate leap over the worldwide airwaves? A witty, literate and frightening tour de force, anchored by McHattie’s commanding central performance, unlike any Living Dead movie you’ve ever seen before.

Also showing on Sunday 30th at 11 am.
