THE NEWS - Brought to you by FrightFest gore newshound Paul McEvoy, who keeps you up to date on everything you need to know and a few things you probably don't, in the world of fantasy and horror.
FREDDY’S BACK AGAIN
Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes outfit, following hot on the heels of their TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and FRIDAY THE 13TH re-boots, are about to commence shooting in Chicago on the re-fried A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET.
The just confirmed director is multi award winning music video director Samuel Bayer, who is responsible for promos from Metallica, David Bowie, Smashing Pumpkins. Bayer was also down to direct the proposed NEAR DARK remake from the same company, but that project has now been abandoned.
THE GATE RE-OPENS
In more remake news 1987’s monster movie THE GATE is to get a new work out. This time it’s in 3-D and from director Alex Winter (BILL AND TED).
NEW NOLAN
Previous FrightFest guest (and thoroughly decent chap) Christopher Nolan has announced that his next project will be a contemporary science fiction action thriller set within the architecture of the mind (!) Nolan is writing and directing INCEPTION – so I guess that his third film in the BATMAN franchise will follow this.
RUE MORGUE
Canada’s coolest horror magazine RUE MORGUE are about to unleash their 86th issue – here’s the cover.
THE CHILDREN
Upcoming from Contender Ent Group and released on 30th March is Tom Shankland’s fabulous fear fest THE CHILDREN. The highlight of our October ICA bash comes to DVD and Blu Ray formats packed with lots of juicy extras.
