POSTCARDS FROM CANNES One down nine to go. It must have been a good party, because I woke up on the floor. Yes, this morning I woke up on the floor of my room. I was fully clothed, and frankly I slept quite well, but I have no idea how I got there. Along with Tim League and Colin Geddes we all attended our regular first night event the Wild Bunch party. We managed to get lost on the way, but we found it in the end. Now I wish we hadn't, but hey that's water under the bridge. Desperately trying to find something positive out of the debacle, I always have one blow out per Cannes, so it's out of the way. Anyway, there was loads of good food, which I should have had more of and loads of drink which I should have had less of. Alan eventually saw a film (The Mutant Chronicles which he liked) yesterday at the fourth attempt. He was turned away from two films and couldn’t get in to a third cause it was full. Paul had to sit through all four hours of the Fantastic Film Federation annual meeting. I’m sure Paul won’t contradict me when I say that these annual meetings are deadly dull and could actually be the dullest thing in the world. Alan and I did it last year so there was no way we were doing it again. The annual FrightFest pile of crap will be making it’s appearance in the next few days. It’s looking like a classic this year. There are some lovely items including a DVD guide to film production in Bulgaria and a tartan lanyard for our festival accreditation. Well, there was a tartan lanyard. Alan has commandeered it. You can have some of this in this year’s festival bag. As we did last year we are looking for the best reason why we should give it to you. Click the link below and pop your reason on the e-mail that opens and send it in. Good luck. Get the bag of crap here So, until the next time. Ian. |
