FRIGHTFEST GLASGOW GUESTS ANNOUNCED
This year, not only do we have more choice chiller movies than before, we have more celebrity visitors than ever. We know it’s important to our audience that they meet the talent behind the terror and it’s that respectful interaction that makes FrightFest extra special within the fan community. So we have ensured there will be a constant stream of horror personalities for you all to talk to, exchange views with and discuss the state of the genre. Not sure at this stage if anyone will drop their trousers again like last year’s brilliant Jason Eisener, but who knows what might happen!
In no particular order because we love them all, welcome CRAWL director Paul China and his producer brother Ben who are travelling from Australia to share the excitement their superbly slow-burning thriller is currently generating across the globe.
Another set of brothers will be arriving from Rome to present L’ARRIVO DI WANG/THE ARRIVAL OF WANG. Antonio and Marco Manetti, collectively known as the Manetti Bros. have become a major force in Italian fantasy over the past few years with such movies as ZORA THE VAMPIRE and THE 17th FLOOR. Their wonderful slice of playful sci-fi will reveal in no uncertain terms why they have been asked to direct the remake of STAGE FRIGHT and a sequel to TORSO.
From Los Angeles comes Padraig Reynolds, director of the shocker fantasy RITES OF SPRING who will be talking about rising horror star A J Bowen and why he’s thanked on Ti West’s THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL.
One of the most eagerly anticipated movies in the Film4 FrightFest Glasgow line-up is THE RAID. This action film to end all action films is virtually guaranteed to blow the roof off the Glasgow Film Theatre with its ramped up sequences of super-exhilaration and has already been snapped up for a major Hollywood remake. So we are thrilled to welcome Welshman director Gareth Evans to Scotland, via his home in Indonesia, to discuss all things Glock and roll and star Iko Uwais. Only in the UK for a very short time, we are delighted Evans wants to be with us in Glasgow for the UK premiere of his stunning adrenaline pumper.
Another key Italian figurehead is travelling from Rome to join us on the GFT stage. SHADOW man Federico Zampaglione, the Italian Rob Zombie, is bringing over the opening sequence of his new giallo horror TULPA to show in public for the very first time ever. This is a world premiere from the lead singer of the Italian rock band Tiromancino you will not want to miss.
FRIGHTFEST GLASGOW FILMS ANNOUNCED
FILM4, yes they are back onboard for another year, FrightFest returns to its second home at the acclaimed Glasgow Film Festival (GFF) for the seventh time, with its biggest line-up ever. The UK’s favourite horror fantasy festival hosts two days of terror from Friday February 24th Saturday to February 25th at the Glasgow Film Theatre, screening 11 must-see titles, 10 of which are UK premieres.
From the menu of menace, horror fans can choose from Argentinian demons, flesh-hungry Russian zombies, mutant cannibals, a Chinese-speaking alien, Asia’s deadliest killers, a Croatian hitman, Pinocchio-obsessed psychos and Jack Nicholson as you’ve never seen him before.
With guest directors and filmmakers, to be announced later, (we love to tease) from all over the world wending their way to Scotland, surprises on screen and off, and our unique community feeling, Film4 FrightFest at the GFF has now become a must-attend occasion on the horror fantasy fan’s calendar, attracting audiences from all over the UK and Europe. What better way to banish those winter blues than with delving into the deranged corners of the genre – the perfect preparation for FrightFest the 13th in August?

FRIGHTFEST ANNOUNCE UK PREMIERE OF THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE II
FrightFest is delighted to be hosting the UK premiere of THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE II (FULL SEQUENCE) as part of our Halloween All-Nighter at the Vue Leicester Square on October 29 at midnight. FrightFest world premiered the original film also directed by Tom Six and were thrilled to learn he included the FrightFest organisers' names (Ian, Paul, Alan Greg) as key characters in his superb sequel. THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE II (FULL SEQUENCE) is exactly the sort of genre movie FrightFest is world famous for championing: it's surprising, shocking, satirical, sobering and sensational. Horror movies rarely come as controversial as Six' latest assault on the senses and we cannot wait to let our audience share its complex cleverness and introduce them to as many cast and crew members as we can. Our grateful thanks go to Eureka Video for allowing us to show the movie at our now even more must-see event.

Glasgow FRIGHTFEST 2011 was a total blast
It began with directors Sean Hogan, Andrew Parkinson and Simon Rumley and stars Kate Braithwaite, Tom Sawyer and Jodie Jameson gossiping about LITTLE DEATHS. It ended in a legendary archetypal moment with Jason Eisener, director of HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN, dropping his trousers and telling the screaming crowd to follow suit.
Yes, Film4 FrightFest Glasgow 2011 was a total blast from start to finish. We had the best movies, the right guests and the perfect sold-out audience to enjoy both. From Team FrightFest’s point of view, the event – once more part of the ever-increasing-in-importance Glasgow Film Festival - was a total joy. Every film had its champions, HOBO and MOTHER’S DAY (complete with Darren Lynn Bousman intro) just blew people away, and the discussion in the auditorium between shows was erudite, amusing and knowledgeable. The film industry has always told us that the FrightFest audience ask the smartest questions and have the best opinions, vital to them marketing their movies, and you did us proud this year. Take TERRITORIES for example, I found many comments about that movie so well argued I immediately informed Arrow Films what the positive feeling in the room was. The same with RUBBER and Optimum Releasing too, as that had everyone glued to their seats right up until the last crazy final credit. And only Mark Hartley’s super-doc MACHETE MAIDENS UNLEASHED! could have provided the oft-repeated line of the weekend – “Get it up or I’ll cut it off!”. Glasgow has become an important part of the FrightFest year and many people travel to the city to be part of that unique atmosphere, one quite different from our banner August event. To everyone who made the effort to be there and to the Glaswegian followers who have become our firm friends (and to the ‘Glasgow Disco Bus’ cruising Sauciehall Street late on Saturday night, but that’s another story), thanks you so much for making our Scottish FrightFest so brilliant. FrightFest really is about a community spirit, a shared love of all-thing genre related, good times, mutual respect and support. We saw that in full force and action on February 25/25 and we couldn’t have been more gratified. On a personal level
I’d like to pay tribute to Jason Eisener who I absolutely adored. On stage I called HOBO the perfect FrightFest movie and the Nova Scotia genius the most wonderful FrightFest guest. I firmly stand by that. What an incredibly talented man he is, what a star and how generous was he with everyone? We now have an even tougher act to follow, but we’ll do it, have no fear. Or rather do have the fear…it’s what makes us all feel so alive.
MEMORIES
If you have fond memories of Film4FrightFest in August and want an absolutely fantastic memento of the whole event, take a look at this link. Snapper to the Stars Julie Edwards is FrightFest’s official photographer and she took some absolutely amazing pictures of all the guests, presenters and audience. You may have seen some of them featured in newspapers and websites over the Bank Holiday Weekend. Now Julie is offering you the chance to own a compendium of her super photos, so click the link to find out how to order. Christmas is coming after all and it would make a great present. Just think of it, Christmas Day arrives, you gleefully rush downstairs to your stuffed stocking, unwrap the first present you see, only to find a book containing pictures of Ian! But also of Eli Roth, Kane Hodder, Adam Green, Joe Lynch, Tobe Hooper, Gary Kemp, Robin McLeavey, Xavier Samuel, Gemma Atkinson.
