It's so good it's scary - The Guardian
The premiere event of the year for horror fans - Time Out
THE NEWS - Brought to you by FrightFest gore newshound Paul McEvoy, who keeps you up to date on everything you need to know and a few things you probably don't, in the world of fantasy and horror.
THE CRAZIES
Following the re-imagining of DAWN OF THE DEAD it’s nearly time for the start of shooting of another George Romero classic THE CRAZIES.
Directed by Breck Eisner – whos only notable past credit is SAHARA - this is now scheduled to star Timothy Olyphant (DEADWOOD) and Radha Mitchell (PITCH BLACK and the still criminally un-released in the UK killer croc movie ROGUE.)
Eisner is also down to direct the proposed remakes of FLASH GORDON and CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON!
SCOTT PLIGRIM VS THE WORLD
This is the new project from FrightFest fave Edgar Wright. Based on the comic book / graphic novel series of the same name. SCOTT PILGRIM is scheduled to shoot in Toronto for three months very soon. The cast has just been announced and includes Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Kieran Culkin.
GEORGE ROMERO’S … OF THE DEAD
Watch for the latest in Romero’s undead ouvre later in the year. This time expect boats and big Wild Western stylings. The full title is still undecided at the moment – but I kinda like ROMERO’S…OF THE DEAD as it is.
SUNDANCE ROUND-UP
The annual Sundance Film Festival is upon us and the genre films to watch out for are…
DEAD SNOW – great looking Norwegian Nazi Zombiethon. (say no more!)
BLACK DYNAMITE – retro 70’s blaxploitation riff.
THE KILLING ROOM – stellar cast psychological thriller.
GRACE – Cronenbergian horror from Adam (HATCHET) Green’s Ariescope pictures. Web Site
MOON – Duncan Jones SF thriller with Sam Rockwell and Matt Berry.
