Plant life has become extinct on Earth, and dedicated botanist Freeman Lowell (Bruce Dern) cultivates remaining specimens in giant domes orbiting Earth. He waits the call to refoliate our planet, but when a new order comes in to destroy the domes, he takes matters into his own hands.

SILENT RUNNING has a very slow and methodical pace, but packs a punch with intense acting and a great script. The film is thoughtprovoking and creates a real connection for Lowell but also for the situation he finds himself in - not to mention our own position as humans. Visually the film was ahead of its time, and has inspired filmmakers since its original release.

This blu-ray release is a must-have for the avid fan and for anyone with even a vague interest. The extras include a commentary, a 50 minute making-of, interviews and a feature on Douglas Trumbull. Make space for this limited edition disc on your shelves.
