The premiere event of the year for horror fans - Time Out
ICA 2009 - THE BEST BITS The ICA 2008 All-Nighter was a huge success, with a sold out audience of FrightFesters enjoying a stellar line up of films, which included two world and three UK premieres. First up was Gnaw, introduced by director Gregory Mandry and members of the cast. Andy Nyman was next presenting his personal making of Dead Set video diary, which in turn was followed by Hush, introduced by director Mark Tonderai. Producer Joe Daley was on stage next to introduce Clive Barker's Book of Blood. Then before the mid event break, Tom Shankland, dressed in his Diabolik jacket, made is way to the stage to introduce the surprise film, The Children. Part two got underway with Paul McEvoy and Chris Fowler hosting the film quiz, which frankly, was as chaotic as it was hilarious. What did shine through however, was the depth of the knowledge that the FrightFesters on stage and also the fans in the audience have about the genre. Probably the scariest thing of the day. Neil Marshall introduced a restored version of Escape From New York, which he acknowledged in his preamble, had greatly influenced his film making. He also read out a message from director John Carpenter before the film screened. As the day moved into the wee small hours, the classic retro title was followed by B-movie legend Bruce Campbell's My Name is Bruce. This in turn was followed by Splinter and finally Pig Hunt, before a very tired, but very happy audience, stumbled out into the light after a twenty hour marathon of gore and mayhem.
