DinoMarabaseDirected by Geoff Klein, Starring: Kerri Taylor, Cindel Chartrand, Ivan Peric, Christina Sciortino, Sandy Greig, and Willian Jarand (as Moe). Horror, Canada, 82 minutes.

DVD UK release date: 5th July 2010 (Certificate 18)

Some hot college girls are travelling to a bikini car-wash as part of a fundraising event. Bus trouble forces them to take refuge at an abandoned gas station. Unfortunately it’s not long before a psycho killer starts to pick them off one by one.

The film begins with a foxy blonde girl (in bikini) at the gas station who is promptly murdered by the maniac (Moe). This sets the scene for the rest of the movie! We then cut to some of the college girls as they make their preparations to travel to the car-wash. It’s not long before they are on their way, until engine trouble with the bus forces them to pull over at a gas station on the outskirts of town. As it will be some while before the bus is fixed, the girls decide to start the bikini car wash (for passing traffic) to pass the time and raise some funds (cue scene for some far too brief bikini car-washing action).

The girls are warned by a passing stranger (Hank) about people going missing at night at the gas station. Ignoring his advice however they continue to wait for the bus to be fixed, albeit some of the girls get bored waiting and decide to leave. Before long the night falls, and after a few routine killings, the remaining protagonists are fighting for their lives to escape the clutches of Moe the madman. By the way, the ice mentioned in the title refers to the killer putting the bodies on top of a freezer full of ice after being murdered, presumably to preserve the bodies!

Bikini Girls on Ice is your standard slasher flick, and reasonably well made considering what must have been a low budget. It’s a fairly easy watch and the acting and character development is ok. Unfortunately however, whilst some of the girls are nice to look at, there is very little new here, and even the killings are off screen for most of the time. There isn’t a lot of tension and plot-wise the film plods along, but at about 82 minutes long is not too taxing. Overall this ranks as about two stars, one of which is for the bikinis however.
