Re: Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.

Put it this way - how many films from FF 2015/2016/2017 are going to be talked about, re-watched and regarded as modern classics in years to come? Not a fair way to put it. Leatherface and 31 had buzz but they were crap, unfortunately, so they will not be remembered. The Human Centipede didn’t have...

Re: Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.

Nobody had heard the slightest about The Human Centipede when we got the world premiere at 3pm. That’s when the buzz started.

Re: Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.

Seriously guys, the new Pascal Laugier, the new Puppet Master... I don’t get the disappointment. But, as someone already said, I won’t complain about a faster queue.

Re: Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.

Mate, this is mostly unfair. I am aware of the LFF issue that denied us a few good titles in the past, but Climax was definitely something I was expecting to be there and we got it instead. I would have said you were crazy to expect Lars Von Trier, but we got Gaspar Noé! Also: Upgrade is 100% mainst...

Re: Mindhack

It wasn't that bad, unless it was just the "I'm not interested in where this is clearly going" kind of walkout.

Re: Overall Thoughts

"Timmy" conjures up images of Timmy Mallett
I'm not british so the first one that comes to my mind is Timmy from South Park.

Re: Overall Thoughts

Trends included fun films and horrors directed by / starring women.
Trends also included two movies with a character named Tim who gets really upset when they call him Timmy.

Re: Better Watch Out

Not sure when was the last time that a studio movie went into such uncomfortable places. Good job Universal! My favourite of the weekend.

Re: Inside

Does the smart thing to avoid too many comparisons by telling the same story with a different style. Ditches the surreal, over the top gore fest and goes for the thriller. Cannot hope to rival a modern classic, but as far as home invasion flicks go it does a very solid job. Laura Harring was an insp...

Re: Victor Crowley

Depressingly cheap, toes the line between a comedy shot with Blumhouse leftovers and a pretentious Troma. Adam Green still gets a few inspired gags, but the first Hatchet was something else.

Mindhack

I thought I should start this one as there were literally eight people at my screening - what did everyone else know that we didn't??? Anyway: imagine a light version of Mr. Robot that maintains the same Matrix/Fight Club feel but more cyberpunk and teen friendly. Sometimes it makes Besson's Lucy lo...

Re: Discovery Screen Tickets

I'm finally done. Funniest part was when I spent a good hour trying to get a ticket for Fashionista while my wife was selecting some other movie first, and then somehow she got Fashionista before me. In the end "only" a couple of choices went sold out while I was insisting on playing bingo on the sa...

Re: Discovery Screen Tickets

It's getting even more ridiculous:

- only one seat available
- I click on it
- says it's taken
- refreshes the page automatically
- it's still orange
- I click again
- repeat (15 minutes)
