Re: Discovery Screen
I saw Community. It was obviuously done on a very low budget but was quite effective; focussing on 2 student documentary film makers who venture into a no-go area council estate and get more than they bargained for. Imagine a less stylish but in many ways quite striking urban version of The Wicker M...

Re: Nightbreed - The Cabal Cut
Like they said in conclusion; its a work in progress. All credit to them for wanting to restore Clive's original vision. It's very close to the book now (which I re-read before coming to the Fest) and events like this stimulate further interest in getting a full restoration done, which this film ful...

Re: Berberian Sound Studio
Excellent production and sound design, a good leading performance and (surprisingly) some good humour, but all in the service of a film that went absolutely nowhere. 5 /10
Re: Grabbers
Best film of Day 1 by some distance. A fun old fashioned Tremors style monster movie with good story and surprisingly good CGI 8 / 10

Re: Under The Bed
One of only 2 films I saw this year which I really loathed. Found it to be not in the least bit engaging and unable to obey its own internal logic. Rubbish really. 3 / 10

Re: Tower Block
Good choice for a closing movie IMO. A real tension filled crowd pleaser despite the plot holes. What didn't work for me was that it was so obvious from the get go as to who the sniper was and I'm not generally good at guesssing these things! 7 / 10

Re: [REC]3 Genesis
I think its a bold but right move to take a franchise off in a different direction. What's the point in repeating what was done (albeit very WELL done) in the first 2 films? One of my favourites of the fest and I thought the comedy elements were spot on 9 / 10

One of my favourites too. I love a good vampire movie and this one had all the right elements; sex, style, strong female characters and a compelling story. 9 / 10

Re: American Mary
One of my top 5's of the festival. Found the subject matter fascinating, I have to say and Katherine Isabelle gives a bravura performance. 9 / 10

Re: The Inside
Worst film of the festival for me by a long way. One of the worst "found footage" movies with a final 20 minutes of a girl running around in the dark gasping. Truly unwatchable. Sir Gawaine should stick to his acting day job. 2 / 10
Re: Bottom 5
1. Chillerama - the more I think about this the more I hate it. 2. Vile 3. A Night in the Woods 4. Detention - May need to watch this one again as it was far too quickfire for a late night film and most of it went over my head but my first impression was; "this is garbage" That's only 4 I ...

Re: The Devil's Business
It's not bad, but for a full feature there isn't enough happening and it is all talk for about the first half. http://streetrw.blogspot.com/2011/09/devils-business.html For a full feature it was actually pretty short (75 mins?)and the director's intention (well achieved I thought) was to build the ...

Re: A Night In The Woods
What a shame they couldn't show Guinea Pigs or that I decided not to go to the Disco Screen instead that morning.
This was a tiresome, massively unoriginal, load of pants.

Re: Inbred
As has already been mentioned you know what to expect from an Alex Chandon film and (having said that) this was better than expected. I didn't like the scene in the barn or the mean spirited ending, but it was genuinely funny in places and the gore was plentiful and well done.

Re: Chillerama
Deserves a mention as the only film I really didn't like this year. Puerile, unfunny and tiresome. Wish I'd walked out and gone to bed instead.
