Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

I quite agree with MaxRenn on this. Frightfest perhaps a victim of its own success?

Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

I'm sorry if you found my reply patronising, if wasn't intended that way, but I don't see how I went off on a tangent considering I was talking about censorship, the BBFC, Frightfest and A Serbian Film. However, to answer your question: No, I don't think it defeats the point of the festival or the B...

Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

Festivals such as Frightfest get to show "unrated" films by permission of the council (in this case Westminster). In this case A Serbian Film required a rating to be shown (as did I Spit...). It's at this point that the BBFC became involved. They followed standard guidelines (they're also ...

Re: The Rough Guide to FrightFest

Sorry if my 50 quid scared anyone, wasn't meant to. I was just quoting the rough mean between the single and double on the link I posted. I know that a double has been around the 50 mark for me in the past. It is very cheap though... and perfectly servicable too. On the subject of value: HHH is a B&...

Re: The Rough Guide to FrightFest

I think this years price is still to be determined. Your figure seems a reasonable guess though so you should be ok.

Re: The Rough Guide to FrightFest

High Holborn Halls is close and not too expensive and I think still has some reasonably priced rooms left. (http://www.lsevacations.co.uk/residences/highholborn.htm) The Halls are about £50 a night depending on the options with breakfast included. Other food and a few drinks on top can (depending ho...

My bed time reading of choice at the moment is Necronomicon; a massive, very attractively bound (though not in human skin unfortunately), collection of H. P. Lovecraft's short stories. I can usually manage two to threee a night before sleep and they've been giving me very interesting dreams.

Manhunt from last years Frightfest was very good in my opinion and can be bought for £3.99 from HMV online apparently. Actually, I think I might buy a copy of that for me...

Dissapointing and a little boring. Well shot and cohesive, but I felt Quaid was too ridiculous to be taken seriously and I spent the whole moving waiting for him to meet the axe only to see him skip away happy and untouced at the end. I have no idea why the ending was changed from the short, I felt ...

Fantastic build with tension you could drown in. Amazing period piece with some lovely shocks and jumps (did anyone see the blonde getting her head blown off?). Was really hoping the ending could match the build but was dissapointed. Had it left quite what was happening open and just cut it in the g...

I liked it, despite the flaws. Some genuinely thrilling moments (the bathroom door scare was the scare of the festival for me and the burning of his mother was pretty bleak), but I have no idea why anyone would think this was inventing a new genre of horror... it really wasn't anything new. Pretty a...

Hey Joey, Glad to hear you're not scared off by the criticism and you enjoyed what must have been a mind blowing experience for you! I just want to say that, while I won't try to argue that Bubba's was a fine work of art, I felt it very much deserved a place at FF. It was clear you'd made a movie fu...
