Re: films we just saw
I saw The Ward myself last night. I thought it was very mediocre, bordering on boring. The characters were almost entirely cliched as were the plot developments. The ending was predictable, there was a complete lack of atmosphere, the scares were obvious and the 'monster' looked like Eddie from Iron...

Re: Horror Films 2011
I can't wait for the A Nightmare on Elm Street II remake. I made a resolution to lose some IQ points this year and that film just might do the trick.

Re: films we just saw
Tron Legacy - entertaining enough but it tries to be three films all at once and thus never manages to completely cohere. Nice shiny wrapping for a prosaic and flawed story.

Re: Favourite Saw sequel
SAW 8. I hear it's going to be a blast and there'll be a scene with Cary Elwes dancing a jig to 'Jake the Peg'

Re: The State Of British Cinemas
My thoughts on this are the same as pretty much everyone else. For me, cinema-going has become something I only tend to do with FF mates. This is a big change for me as cinema-going has been something I've done solo for years. *Insert suitable double entendre here* I think the change has come about ...
Ouch, don't mess with Greg ;-) Ah, I love all of those films :-( and Tarantino is fab (can't understand why he inspired so much hatred in a lot of people)...
It's not hatred in my case. I just find his work to be very derivative and I get a bit fed up with films ...
Don't kill me, but mine would be Fight Club. I just thought it was ridiculous. I'm a fan of Chuck Palahniuk and I don't particularly have anything against David Fincher, but the ending was just lame... and I don't like Brad Pitt.
I'm the same with Fight Club. I love the rest of...

Re: Want to See Kristen Stewart Star in the 'Martyrs' Remake?
They may well do this but, as seems to be happening with the remake of Old Boy, they'll cut the material that made the original unique so that they don't offend the delicate sensibilities of American gumbies.

Re: An Open Letter To GoreZone Magazine
Good grief. The response to Jamie's blog post I find unbelievable, especially the comments coming from the Gorezone staff. Well done Jamie for standing your ground in the face of, well, a tidal wave of shit.

GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra is quite possibly the maddest, most overblown action movie of the decade and leaves the year's other CGI behemoth based on a toy, Transformers 2, in the gutter. It comes across as what would have been the ultimate result if Thunderbirds and the Roger Moore era Bond films h...

Did lack any tension but this was made up with John Travolta swearing badboy performance. See, that's what puts me off it from the trailers. With the exception of Carrie , I've yet to see Travolta play a villain who doesn't come across as camp and a bit silly. He doesn't come across, to me, as remo...

Teatro Grotessco by Thomas Ligotti. A prose-poetic writer who is the heir to Lovecraft and Poe. I never thought I'd come across a contemporary writer who could match those two gents but he does and then some. Think their darkest heart stuff distilled and you have an idea of the power imbuing Ligott...
