Re: Films for Frightfest August 2013

I made a YouTube playlist for the trailers I could find online so far. Get comfy, there's 37 of them!

Re: London Film Clubs and Societies - please list

Not sure who's still reading this but figured I'd throw my hat in the ring for whoever's curious... I've started a new film club, Savage Cinema, that kicks off next month at the Roxy Bar & Screen with a double bill of George Romero's MARTIN (1976) and Bill Gunn's GANJA & HESS (1973), arguabl...

The Man Who Saw Frankenstein Cry

Being someone who was long aware of Paul Naschy's name and reputation but had never seen any of his films, I was hoping that this film would have the same effect as something like Not Quite Hollywood, i.e. making me walk out of the screening with a massive shopping list of all the films I have to ca...

Re: Deadheads

This was a bit too lightweight to really hold my attention (iffy sound and variable performances didn't help either), but I'll give it this... that Vagina Monologues line might be the funniest thing I heard all weekend.

Re: The Theatre Bizarre

Also, André Hennicke, why would the allow him to talk english? I thought he was pretty damn good! The film was inevitably hit-and-miss, but I Love You, Vision Stains and in particular The Accident made it well worth the late night. If The Accident were released on its own as a self-contained short,...

Re: My Sucky Teen Romance

I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would too. Those of you who want to see more should check out the documentary Zombie Girl: The Movie, which is about Emily making her first film, Pathogen, at the age of 12. (I mentioned this when I asked Emily a question on the Monday, for those who were th...

Re: Bad Behaviour

I didn't clock much of the way of bad behaviour personally, except for the mad DVD/T-shirt rush on Monday evening which seemed to bring out the worst in some people. Not necessarily bad behaviour, and I don't mean to make light of the thread, but my only real complaint was the guy two rows ahead of ...

Re: Red White % Blue

This one reminded me of Jack Ketchum's The Lost from a couple of years back (which was one of my films of the year). Had the same sort of screwed up vibe to it. Took a while to get going and for the stories to come together, but once they did it was uncomfortably rewarding. One thing that kind of p...

Unbelievably, the BBFC have given this a '15' certificate. Sheesh, when did this turn in to the Daily Mail forums? :o As if that makes me a Daily Mail reader! I'm just surprised it got that certificate instead of an 18 given it's quite a nasty film, it's not like I called for it to be banned or any...

DVD Beaver have done a comparison of the DVD and the BLu Ray.

Hardly mind-blowing to those indifferent to HD, but looks great for a nigh-on 30-year old film.

Loved the film and all of its slow buildup - most genuinely scary film of the fest for me, bar none.

Oh, and I liked the poster seen at FF alright, but the new one is fucking awesome!

Following on from Andy's post... *** SPOILERS *** Clarke's character was killed by She, the gang leader with the blades in place of a hand (who Jamie killed in the photo studio). I didn't get the connection the first time I saw it, but seeing it again at FF and bearing in mind much of the film is in...
