Re: Blood Feast
Perfectly summed up! Although as good as neither I thought... but it really did live up to the spirit of the original in its stilted acting, leaden pace and impact-free gore.

Re: Show Pieces: Act of Faith, Jimmy's End, His Heavy Heart
Here's the write-up of the Alan Moore & Mitch Jenkins Q&A. There are a couple of spoilers in there for anyone who hasn't seen Show Pieces yet. This Q&A was the high point of this year's FF for me; have been a Moore fan since Tharg's Future Shocks in 2000AD and he was as entertaining in p...

Re: The Shining
Quick question - what did people think of the shorter version?
I realised I've not seen the 119 minute cut since the mid-90s. All my DVDs/bu-rays have been the longer cut.
Think the longer cut is superior, but be interested to read what the opinion is on pacing / character, etc.

Re: Frightfest 2014 Coverage
Liked your coverage leytonrocks - great podcasts too! What recording equipment did you use out of interest - sounded like a studio. One thing - and not a criticism - you've got an extraneous "L" in Paul McEvoy's name in your Day 1 coverage. My overview of the weekend here: http://skymovies...

Thanks for that. Yeah, handsome looking set. Going to plump for the one they're putting out in October (not sure about £15 quid extra for an autograph though).

Re: Show Pieces: Act of Faith, Jimmy's End, His Heavy Heart
@jonbly - do you know if Upon Reflection and A Professional Relationship are expansions of what was in the film? There was a brief scene with Alan Moore and his partner in the dressing room and I seem to remember some footage from a video camera (but could be misremembering that). The running time f...

Re: The House at the End of Time
Perfect summation hingethunder. My joint favourite with Show Pieces (the Discovery films do have the best of the fest, don't they?). Loved the way the frights were genuine, but fresh ideas were brought to haunted house conventions. Didn't see the twist either and sure repeat viewings will reveal eve...

Thanks Lost Highway, interesting. Knew SP was into his decline by then. Would have been interesting to hear what he dialogue he was saying.

The Visitor
Trust we all enjoyed this one. A glorious mishmash of everything popular at the time: demonic kids, sci-fi, cop shows, wealthy cast soap operas and Eastern mysticism. Mad and scattershot, but visually accomplished, despite or because of hilarious prop effects. Sam Peckinpah's scene was dubbed. Anyon...

Cheers Bernal316! And DJBenz - will put my stuff in the link you mentioned. Glad The Harvest is sparking off debate though, a lot going on in that script. Including a symbolically adolescent looking cruciform scarecrow!

Not my intention, jonbly, but do enjoy sharing my thoughts with like-minded people. But, if that's the general consensus will ease off the linking.

Re: Frightfest's worst movie ever?
Missed Shockwave so it's still Bubba's Chilli Parlour. Although the director bringing his little girl on for the Q&A so the audience couldn't crucify him was a stroke of genius. And show how lovely the FF crowd is!

Wow, never seen anyone puffing before. Why does everything now have to have a light on it?
