Re: Sleepy Queue 2014 Discussion (Split from Q&A Thread)

He's lovely man and very approachable. This is mostly true, for most people, most of the time, but for the exceptions to this rule, the idea of him wielding any authority up and down the queue is quite intimidating- when Scotty decides he doesn't like somebody it's not at all pretty. He is nonethel...

Re: Sleepy Queue 2014 Discussion (Split from Q&A Thread)

Can anybody confirm if Scotty will actually be encouraged or authorised (whether officially by the ff boys or by more informal ff family consensus) to "police" the sleepy queue as I understand he has on previous occasions? I know Scott is a longtime frightfest veteran with a lot of friends...

Re: films we just saw

This is my lot for 2012 so far, seperated into four very basic and subjective categories, somebody please disagree with me. The Good: The Inbetweeners Movie Apollo 18 Seconds Apart Give ‘Em Hell Malone Your Highness Dead Heads Colombiana The Informers The Brotherhood of the Bell Killer Elite Troll H...

Re: The Gaming Thread

Bulletstorm is indeed awesome, have played through twice and still go back to improve my echo scores (thumper and flail gun combos being my favoured sadistic M.O.). Bulletstorm has some of the most amusingly big daft guns in any game I've ever played (as Yahtzee put it: "the shotgun sounds lik...

Re: The 2011 FILM4 FrightFest All Nighter - Human Centipede

Much respect and kudos to all the Frightfest boys for making this happen, it is an extraordinary victory over censorship, and a great day for the film industry and horror fans nationwide, who will now be able to watch this film legally- the film itself has become almost irrelevant, but I still can't...

Re: Kill List

I too was left conflicted by Kill List. It had great script and acting and built up plenty of tension around the gritty hit man violence, but like many others, I'm not at all sure about the ending. I feel like I should give it another watch to understand it better, but I'm not sure I missed anything...

Re: Final Destination 5 - 3D

Surprisingly good fun FD5. I was actually not annoyed by the 3D as expected, and instead quietly impressed.

Re: what dvds are we buying?

When I returned from the fest the October Release List was waiting for me, and it's packed full of Frightfest 2010 goodness, but also includes The Woman- that was pretty swift!
I'm going to have trouble avoiding a horror overspend this month- besides, who cares about The Green Lantern?

Re: films we just saw

I deliberately skipped Saint at the fest because I got it mixed up with Priest which just arrived on dvd, and isn't good.
Priest is a bit like Jonah Hex meets Daybreakers and every bit as weak as that sounds.
Now I'm dead curious about Saint... must try to stop being an idiot.

Re: A Lonely Place to Die

A solid horror thriller with some good mountain stunts, but nothing really special to set the film apart from so many others- a bit of an anti-climax to finish the fest on.

Re: The Woman

I thought The Woman was pretty good, well acted, well paced and the soundtrack was especially effective, but I wasn't as blown away by it as so many other people on here. There was a lot of hype around the film being the closest thing to this years ASF, and I didn't really think it was anywhere near...

Re: The Rough Guide to FrightFest

For the last couple of years I've ended up getting drawn into the complaint threads that pop up after the festival, and I'm determined not to this year. I just wanted to agree with PeterPan and Marlin that the Frightfest crowd on this forum are indeed a good friendly bunch of people, and I think eve...

I enjoyed Tucker and Dale even more than I expected to from the spectacularly spoilerific trailer.
Great fun and a welcome break from the heavier stuff.

Re: Inbred

Even I didn't like this cheap and nasty film- though I usually love a bit of spiteful trash, this was just never as funny or clever as it thought it was and ended up merely being grotesquely depressing, and quite, quite bad.
A very disappointing penultimate film- normally a pretty solid spot.
