Re: Films for FrightFest The 13th 2012

Can anyone see a list of the all the films all on one page? I'll hover my cursor over the menu and handwrite a list if I have to, but I thought I should double-check before I go through the hassle!

Re: The Caller

* Spoilers, maybe? * I really enjoyed this until the last twenty minutes. I was expecting a particular ending—which I felt the script had cleverly set up, and with which I would have been very satisfied even though I saw it coming—and then it just went slasher. I was quite disappointed, as I much pr...

I guess I'll have to seek this out when it gets released on DVD!

Re: Chillerama

Eh, I skipped this one as I ended up walking out of the Anne Frankenstein preview last year. I wasn't offended by it (I enjoy stuff that's way more offensive than that) but I find Nazis boring and really, really hate musicals—so having to listen to a comedy Adolf sing in made up German-y gibberish w...

Re: The Woman

I think the film had its problems (the two scenes towards the end, where the wife delivers her speech in the kitchen, followed by the arrival of the teacher, didn't work for me at all) but Pollyanna Mcintosh's performance was powerful and completely believable. * SPOILERS* I particularly enjoyed how...

Re: Urban Explorers

You know there's a problem with a film when the audience cheers at the death of one of the protagonists (with whom we're presumably meant to identify). Geez, that female character was bloody annoying.

Re: Final Destination 5 - 3D

Anybody else think that the main guy (who turns a bit psycho) was a mini-tom Cruise? That's Miles Fisher, who's definitely a Tom Cruise-lite. He's also a singer, and the video for his latest song is an 80s pastiche, featuring the cast of Final Destination getting killed off all over again: http://w...

Re: Larry Fessenden—Is a video of the full interview availab

I thought he sounded alot like Jack Nicolson! Fessenden's comment that he was, as a child, especially inspired by Nicholson's performance in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest made me laugh, as Fessenden's whole look/hair/voice/demeanour/anti-authoritarian attitude seem directly taken from that film. ...

Larry Fessenden—Is a video of the full interview available?

The Larry Fessenden interview was really inspiring and entertaining—and the highlight of the festival for me so far! I would LOVE to watch the whole thing again; I presume there's a full recording kicking around as a few highlights have been included in the "FrightFest 2011 - Day 2" video ...

Re: The Real Deal? Let's Scare Film Fans to Death

I was at Kim's book talk/screening at the BFI, and really enjoyed seeing Let's Scare Jessica to Death; I keep hearing about it (mainly from Kim) and couldn't find a copy anywhere. However, I've never seen a print so discoloured: it was bright pink, and made all the actors look like redheads! Still g...

Re: Genre guidelines

What's the least 'horrorish' film to have scared you? Though not commonly considered 'horror' films, here are a few films that have terrified me: Haneke's White Ribbon, Haynes's Safe, Greenaway's The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and her Lover, and Lynch's Lost Highway. Personally, I do think of these ...
