Re: 2023 guests
I assume the current SAG-AFTRA strikes means that the guestlist will be much thinner this year.

Re: One Cut of the Dead
With the caveat that I walked out after half an hour and didn't see it all, I'm still baffled by all the fuss about this - I found it irritating, unengaging and woefully unfunny. It didn't help that the bloke on one side of me - to follow a recurring theme - didn't smell too pleasant and the one on...

Re: Frightfest Awards
The trouble with having audience voting is that the audience won't have seen every film, whereas people on the organising team have. I wouldn't say they have to be independent either. All the main guys have their own favourites and reasons for bringing them to the festival, so I'm sure democraticall...

Frightfest Awards
Many of the other film festivals have various awards, but other than the Genre Rising Star Award , Frightfest (to my knowledge) have never gone in for any of that. Is there a reason why? That'd bring the festival more publicity, not to mention giving the great films another boost. I know TotalFilm d...

Re: Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires
It looked great and some of the jokes were excellent, but choosing to parody 80s action hero movies is a trope that's worn out now. I mean, the Simpsons were doing this with McBain in the early 1990s! It didn't feel fresh at all. Honestly, if they'd have taken the general plot idea (which was pretty...

Re: Printing tickets
You don't need to print them, as long as you have them on your phone you can just show that digital version to get into the film. Might be worth printing out any discovery screen films you're not 100% sure you'll be attending though, because that way you can hand them over to the team to reallocate ...

Re: Discovery/first blood tks
It was a little slow, especially to start with, but to be honest it all worked pretty well. If you selected a seat to take then you got it. No complaining about double-booking seats, it's visually clear which seats are going and how quickly. Honestly, I think this system is the best it's been for Fr...

Re: TBC Saturday 25th
The mystery is back on... Apparently it's a vacant slot to reshow a particularly popular movie, whichever one that is will be decided closer to the festival.

Re: TBC Saturday 25th
In the actual programme that's online that slot is not even TBC anymore, it's just not even listed as a timeslot. I assume that means no film at all.
Re: costumes
It's an 80s theme opening night this year, in honour of the 80s inspired movies showing on opening night. Looking forward to seeing what people come up with!
Re: costumes
Oh yeah, I'll be doing this. Also bought most of my costume but still needs some customising.
I can safely say that I'm going to look like an absolute embarrassment! Thank god my hotel isn't too far away so I don't have to walk through half of London looking like a right tool!
Should be fun.

Re: Frightfest Guest List Announced
So... remember last year when they had a HATCHET 1 showing planned, and it was revealed that it was a brand new HATCHET film? That was curious. Anyway, on a totally different note - there's a 4K restoration of the original HALLOWEEN playing this year. Holy shit dude... :o I did briefly consider thi...
