Re: Space for food etc between films

it wouldn't take too much reshuffling to slightly shorten a couple of gaps to leave one of 90 minutes. But I guess the problem then is where do you leave the big gap - around lunchtime, around 6pm, even later? There's no perfect solution. Oh yeah, I completely agree. One 90 min gap at some point in...

Re: Walking in and out of theater

*Theatre I'm afraid if you don't like it, as others have said, you might need to watch films from the comfort of your own home. I absolutely hate disturbances in the cinema but people walking out to nip to the loo or take an emergency call/message really don't bother me - they're generally doing so ...

Re: Vue West 12 vs Vue West End

The Cinema was perfect seating wise as well, never had an issue with that. Yeah, I completely agree. I was the person who posted elsewhere to ask if anyone would mind swapping Sunday tickets with me, as I'm pregnant and was anticipating the seating being cramped and the aisles being narrow if I nee...

Re: Vue West 12 vs Vue West End

I'm hoping that a few people post some hotel feedback since it's a new area for a lot of us - maybe consider a cheap room just for the Thursday night? Ok! Well this is probably the bargain basement of recommendations, but our hotel overnight on Sat was the Notting Hill Guest House, which proudly di...

Re: Vue West 12 vs Vue West End

Living in east London it is a long trek to W12 and I had to skip all the late films because the night bus would have a real mission (had the full night tube including jubilee line been running it would have been better). Try living in Cambridge ;) Personally, I found the area ok. We drove in and it...

We were on day passes and didn't take advantage of a Disco film. Based on one or two truly guff films we saw on the main screens, I wish we had!

Sadako vs Kayako

Didn't see a thread for this. Probably because it was dreadful. Again, some unintentionally funny dialogue moments, though I'm not sure if that was just subtitle issues or if the filmmakers really did mean for certain lines to come across that way ("I am afraid one of you will have to be sacrif...

Re: Abbatoir

The final 5-10 minutes unfortunately felt like watching an advert for the latest Alton Towers spooky ghost house ride. I really didn't like the way the filmmakers portrayed the wispy spirits, something about it fell flat for me. It was so forgettable that when chatting with the other half last night...

Re: Blood Feast

This was just... I don't know where to start. Right from the get-go the family were completely unbelievable (which I know is the least of its problems, but the daughter looked like a 30 year old playboy playmate rather than a - presumably? - late-teen uni student), they kept smacking the audience ov...

Re: Frightfest Thanks

i came for 5 days this year and i have a 3 month old, my wife just went on holiday with the baby while i sat in a cinema! In our particular scenario, I'm the wife  ;) I could persuade 'im indoors to do a bit of daddy day care, but we both love Frightfest, hence the in-laws comment! Maybe we'll...

Re: Frightfest Thanks

Yes, absolutely this! It may be my last Frightfest for a wee while thanks to an impending sprog on the way, and it was a really great weekend to have as my possible final one for a while! I say possible final because who knows if we persuade the in-laws to come and look after a six-month old for the...

Re: Space for food etc between films

On the contrary, I actually found the gaps perfect this year. Once you had fought through the crowds in Leicester Square you'd normally run out of time to find anything to eat that wasn't at tourist rip-off prices. This year the break has involved a more leisurely stroll any one of a number of ok p...

Re: Food & Booze in Shepherd's Bush

That Roosters Piri Piri on the front does some very nice, fresh made burgers if you're in a hurry. Ate there between films tonight and it was lovely. We followed this recommendation and it was indeed really good and freshly made while we waited! We were idiots and walked straight past it a few time...

Space for food etc between films

Thank you guys, firstly, for this year's festival :green: I know for some it's still going on so this might be a bit early, but we only stayed until Sunday evening. I loved the venue once we found it (we drove!), it was great to have the entire place to ourselves with a packed schedule, the aircon w...

Re: Downhill

God, this was a mess, but I did feel really sorry for the cast and crew in the Q&A at Arrow, who watched basically the entire cinema empty out at the end. For me it was just absolutely bad (and I fell asleep at one point) whereas something like Blood Feast was just entertainingly, laugh-at-and-a...
