Life Changer

A fantastic movie about a shape shifter; but if you're imagining crappy cgi shape shifting, then think again. This is a character study, about a creature which takes on human forms, but can only stay with a host for so long, before it must move on. I was riveted by it. To say any more is a bit spoil...

Dementia Part II

Admittedly, I was ridiculously drawn to this originally because Najarra Townsend was in it, but I was so glad that I picked it as an alternative to the main screen, because the performance of the lead actress, Suzanne Voss, was an absolute tour de force. Her persona changes throughout the film and s...

Re: Frightfest: Beneath the Dark Heart of Cinema

It was a really interesting documentary, and a great trip down memory lane.

2012 was the first time that I secured a full weekend pass, having attended since 2009, so It was a great year for me, despite whatever madness was going on behind the scenes, they still put on an amazing festival.

Re: Upgrade

Often, the big budget movie at Frightfest is a bit disappointing, but Upgrade was a real corker. A visual delight, with plenty of action and a decent plot. Yes, twists were obvious, but who cares? Again, I enjoyed myself, which is what it's all about, surely?

Re: Anna and the Apocalypse

I felt that this would've worked better as just a horror comedy. The songs, although not as grating as I'd expected, did drag the whole thing out rather and I could easily have lived without them.

Re: Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires

Brilliant fun. Plus, the time and effort put into the film is just madness to comprehend. Sure it was rather over the top, but it did what I had been looking forward to it doing, and I had a great time watching it.

I thought this one was great fun. Really enjoyed it. Sure, it wasn't a mind blowing, instant classic, but it was really entertaining.

Re: Braid

I thought it was half a good movie. It really did fall apart towards the end, to the point that I couldn't tell you how it ended, because I'd lost interest.

1/10. This one bored me into actual sleep. I had tried to avoid it, but couldn't get a disco ticket.

Re: Discovery/first blood tks

It's difficult to please everyone completely. People will have their ideal line up planned, but you will miss the odd movie here and there, but then you may then be pleasantly surprised by the main screen movie that you see instead. I think we should definitely remember how much the ticketing has co...

Re: Discovery/first blood tks

I received an email in my spam at 16:45 with a button to get further info on how to book Discovery tickets. However, try as I might, I cannot un-spam it in order to access the link. Anyone else??? Update: Now just got another email, confirming the previously suggested method of logging in and select...

*waves* :D On the off chance you were around there last year, any information on the temperature? Row C last year was so arctic I almost gave a woman with a blanket my days food and drink money just so I could borrow it but I gather it's not so bad further up. I don't want to turn up in full Eskimo...

Re: 2018 Lineup Announced

The line up looks really strong this year. That said, I really don't fancy 'Climax'. A shame it's on last, as there's nothing to see as an alternative. Then again, I guess it would be confusing if it was on mid-way through, considering the title. Bizarrely, I'm really intrigued by the Hitler/Bigfoot...

Re: Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.

The last few years haven't looked great on paper, but there have been some movies that turned out to be corkers. Yes, we would've liked the Suspiria remake and the new Halloween (And we've all crossed fingers for a Carpenter appearance for years); but despite that, I think that this year's line up l...
