Anna and the Apocalypse
Very enjoyable. 9 out of 10. Deserves to be a big hit. The main lead and the key support roles were of high quality. Music and lyrics were punchy. I will recommend this to friends (even though I don't have any friends!) My only criticism is that it slightly lost momentum and focus 2/3rds the way thr...

Re: Hell Is Where The Home Is
Jonbly, I thought the opposite.
Intriguing start, but gradually ran off the rails.
Good soundtrack though.
The Director and writers are still finding their way but I look forward to their next film.

Re: He's Out There
The heroine did come up with reasonable plans, but she had to keep modifying them as the threats intensified. I'd give the film 7 out of 10. Lead actress gave a strong performance. I later learned she was an Aussie. The husband was pretty useless. At least she got more attention from the psycho. Fai...

Deep Red Question
This is a question for Dario Argento fans. I watched Deep Red on blu ray earlier this week. I'd never seen the film before. There's a scene half-way through where the jazz pianist,David Hemmings, is getting dressed, buttoning his shirt. The journalist, played by Daria Nicolodi, is standing next to h...

Re: How come horror cinema is still 50 years behind horror literature?
Frightfest tends to follow an unimaginative and narrow definition of horror. The recent Danish film 'Land of Mine' (based on the true story of German POWs who must clear the beaches of dangerous landmines after WW2) has far more genuine horror than the routine splatter zombie-massacre movies the org...
Re: The End?
I liked this movie. The opening scenes were clever. The main character was initially an utter prick. Putting everyone down. I enjoyed the later interaction with the cop. I would have liked Sylvia (the new secretary) to have lived at least 5 mts longer - but her sudden elimination was quite shocking....

8/10. Strong film. Stunning image of the toddler in the background , unnoticed, distressed and zig=zagging aimlessly.

Re: The Villainess
Fair comment, but it was exciting to watch most of the time.
Re: Mayhem
I think it was silly.
The acting was mediocre.
And the concept is hardly original.
Duane Swiercznski's action crime novel 'Severance Package' (yet to be filmed) is far superior.

Re: Cell
The book itself was pretty awful.
The ending copied from John Wyndham.

Re: Jeruzalem
Hamas still refer to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion on their official website.
So, I think we should boycott the Gaza Strip till they take down these references.
Their charter sounds like Himmler's wet-dream anti-semitic fantasies.

Wolf Creek 2
Decent Sequel. Strong opening scene. Mid-section is a homage to Spielberg's Duel! Strange quiz show finale. The recitation of ballads includes a Rolf Harris classic. I'm a dual citizen (Brit & Aussie) with divided loyalties. The relentless pommy-bashing script can upset me more than the torture ...

Preservation
This American film reminded me of Eden Lake.
(The British movie is better, though.)
One thing that bugs me is the inability or reluctance of the 'goodies' to finish off the baddies.
Never turn your back on a defeated, crippled and dying enemy...

Eva Green was the perfect femme fatale.
When she was eliminated, I began to lose interest.
