Re: Housebound

I only got to see this yesterday and I think this would have been my favourite film of the festival. I agree that there are pacing issues, this would have been a perfect 90 minute film, but the mixture of horror and comedy is great and the twists keep coming. Unlike with many horror comedies, this w...

Re: Frightfest quality of films and clashing with the LFF

Dj Benz is right. I've spoken to Ian for example at one time about getting films for frightfest and its very much a 'Studio' thing of why sometimes they can't always get films that everyone expects them to get. And as far as the BFI film festival, i've seen quite a few over the past few years that ...

Frightfest quality of films and clashing with the LFF

I just got the catalogue for this years BFI London Film Festival, which answered my question as to where several films I would have expected to see at this year at Frightfest were. It Follows, In Darkness We Fall, The Man in the Orange Jacket, Kirsty, When Animals Dream and A Girl Walks Home Alone a...

House of the Dead was a bad film but I didn't think it was boring, there was something endearing about its stupidity. I've seen quite a few films at Frightfest which were far less watchable that that piece of zombie cornball.

Re: The Arrow Video Ad

I thought it was in that, but saw so many movies that I couldn't be sure. Any idea what the film clip is, and if it's any good? Black Sabbath is great and it looks fantastic on Blu-ray. It's an anthology film by the great Maria Bava. If you get to watch it, there are two versions on the disc. Make ...

OMG yes !!! I lasted 45 minutes with that piece of crap and I felt my retinas had holes burned into them afterwards.

Re: Home

I loved the director's previous film,The Pact and thought this had a lot of the same elements: Two sisters where one dies in mysterious circumstances and the surviving one then investigates , all connected to a mystery involving a woman who disappeared in the past. I liked it a lot, but it wasn't qu...

Re: Frightfest's worst movie ever?

Banshee Chapter was so execrable I tried to make myself go to sleep by covering my head with my hoodie hood but alas, somebody had it in for me that day. If this years' effort was worse than that it's almost making me want to watch it - I saw 'Julia' instead. I thought that was rather good and unli...

Re: V/H/S Viral

How would you compare this against the other two V/H/S films ? I thought the first one was good and the second one was better thanks to the excellent zombie and cult segments

Re: Extraterrestrial

I thought this was terrible. I tried something similar to Monsters, but that film was a low budget miracle which looked fantastic and had likeable leads. The ensuing sex farce here was uninvolving and the characters acted in ways which I found implausible and offputting.

I wasn't able to make the screening, but I really want to see this. I hope this gets at least a DVD release at some point.

Re: Frightfest's worst movie ever?

Cant believe how pathetic Stage Fright was last night. Lets put it this way, Horror is Horror, Musicals are Musicals. You cannot mix them both . Even the bloody killer was signing when he made is kills! I was in the Horror Channel for most of the day yesterday and it had the smallest amount of peop...

Re: Shouting At People Regarding Phones During Movies

I had a couple of people checking their phone near me yesterday. The first time I tend to let it slip, but if they keep doing it I generally ask them to put their phone away with a quiet voice, which tends to do the job. I agree that shouting just disturbs more people's entertainment, which isn't ne...

Re: The Visitor

Sam Peckinpah's scene was dubbed. Anyone know why? They only had Peckinpah for one day, so he didn't dub his own performance. Apparently he wasn't that well and couldn't remember his lines. All Italian films at the time were shot without any sound recording and they would then be post-synchronised....
