Re: Thoughts on Frightfest 2016
I know everyone says this every year but why on earth is rubbish like house on willow street, abbatoir, windmill massacre, sadako, (and by all accounts blood feast) on main screen when some far better films on smaller screens? it seems like the main screen is a bit dumbed down. ...they should have ...

Re: Ticket Sales
After the initial alarm of seeing all the tickets disappearing within seconds, right in front of you, this does at least seem to have been a stable system. So glad seats became available again after an hour or so - I really thought I'd missed out this year. Hope everyone's managed to get the tickets...

Re: Ticket Sales
Glad so many of you seemed to have lucking getting tickets. I'm afraid I didn't though. I had them in my basket, then registered my details, then they just vanished from my basket. I went back to the main page to try again, but they'd all gone. Am really devastated. This'll be the first Frightfest I...

Re: Willow Creek
Loved that long, lingering take in the tent. Such a simple, static shot, but the tension just kept ramping up brilliantly as the scene went on, mostly thanks to the great sound design and some believably terrified performances. I never thought I'd particularly enjoy another one of those 'night in th...

Re: The Banshee Chapter 3D
A story about numbers stations and pineal glands sounds like a hoot, but this was a bit of a letdown, I thought. I definitely preferred the Stuart Gordon take on the From Beyond plot line - Banshee Chapter just seemed a bit lacking in terms of coherence. Would have liked a bit more light shed on jus...

Re: The Dead 2: India
I heartily agree with the negatives, I'm afraid. Seemed like a step up from the first film, but the pacing was interminable again, and the editing was just flouncy, artless nonsense (so many unnecessary slow-mo close-ups of Doc Martens trudging across deserts in these films). The performances were p...

Re: You're Next
Yeah. This definitely delivered. I really hope the film does well enough commercially for it to set a bit of a precedent for smart, mainstream slasher movies. Great to see Ti West playing a struggling, artsy director too
Solid 9/10, I reckon.
