Re: Knives and Skin
.. young black lesbians enjoy utopian experimental relationships. The crude anti-male and anti-heterosexual writing, eg the depiction of the obnoxious jock, was embarrassing. This black female director cannot write coherent dialogue. Give it a miss. Just making the assumption the director is black ...

Re: Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.
What about MANDY , which is showing at BIFFF, Bucheon and the NZ Film Festival (all July festivals), and has a release date of September? Can't see that being at LFF due to the release date, and can't see why it won't be at FrightFest when it's at two competing genre festivals a month before. As a ...

Re: Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.
I understand where you are coming from but I must say that it is not fair to compare the programme with BFI's LFF. They have a different budget and it is way more mainstream. I am fortunate to live in London, so it's the perfect combo - Frightfest feels more underground and has a more sociable commu...
Re: Mayhem
After Adam Green I don't want to get blurred too much by nice guy film makers and give films more credit than they deserve. Watched Mayham and although I liked Joe Lynch as a person I thought he couldn't deliver. The virus story and character behaviour made no sense, even in this ridiculous setting ...

Not a massive fan of the slasher genre but enjoyed this. Probably giving this film more credit because of Adam Green's nice attitude.

Re: How come horror cinema is still 50 years behind horror literature?
With films like The Babadok, VVitch, Under the Shadow, Under the Skin, It follows, etc. I slightly disagree on the comparison with literature. In regards to festival programme layout - you are always catering for an audience. For example the cult category, which I love, at the BFI festival always te...

Re: Discovery Screen Tickets
Ok, the three films I wanted I can't select as festival pass holder. After being gutted I was ready paying extra. Now no payment is being accepted? Any ideas? Looks like there has been some cock up yesterday. Feel sorry for Ian and team for being let down by those ticketing amateurs.

Re: Walking in and out of theater
It will be hard and is not necessarily justified. Look, I don't even drink beer to avoid going to the loo, but still I had to go twice during films over the weekend. This is a basic need. I also go to the theatre or classic music events where you have a stricter late comer and no food policy, but ci...

Re: Vue West 12 vs Vue West End
Shepard's Bush is an ugly place and I really dislike big shopping malls and chains - but having all the screens allocated to the festival is a massive plus. Quality of food offered is below average. Places like the soulless Wetherspoons is like the pound shop or McDonald's for beer.To top it off you...

Ash was great, but the other characters and the story was a bit bland. Stopped at Episode 4, maybe I should give it another go..ian wrote:wakko wrote: whhhaaaaaaa? loved the show.

Re: No more phone warnings?
Unfortunately those warnings are still required. I wouldn't necessarily blame it on single ticket holders. On the FF Facebook page there is someone (seems like a pass holder) arguing about using phones in dim mode and how he finds that someone going to the loo causes the same distraction. People jus...

The second I see a "versus" in the title I run away. Unfortunately it was also true for "Ash vs Evil Dead".

Re: Quality of films this year
For a split moment I was thinking of buying "Some kind of hate" that tortured us with boredom last year and hide it in my friend's goodie bag. Then I thought it would be really mean.brad1000 wrote:A cynic would suggest keeping an eye on the next few waves of "Frightfest Presents" titles.
