Thanks Ian!
Just before I book accommodation - are we locked into the Cineworld Leicester Square as usual for the August event?

Re: FrightFest 2021
Great job Ian and team - that’s got to be the smoothest ticket ride we’ve ever had! Got the seat I wanted - all done in under 5 mins

Re: Tales from the Lodge
I don’t think those concerns should be dismissed, I can see how it could be viewed in that way. It was a clumsy way to portray a LGBT+ / Trans character and have to admit it made me feel uneasy. I’m sure it wasn’t intended to offend, but a bit more thought and sensitivity would have gone a long way.

Re: Best movie so far?
I'll cheat and say 2. Rabid was the best horror - clearly made with love and passion and a real flair that many films this weekend didn't get near. Knives and Skin probably the best film overall - if not exactly a horror - again great to see such invention and style on thr big screen. I missed Ready...

Re: 2019 Discovery Screens
Seems to be working OK now. Got everything I wanted except I had to buy Dachra and Short Film Showcase 1. Agree that it' very frustrating that these ticketing issues seem to reoccur on an annual basis

Rabbit in Red Lounge
Does anyone know if this website is still active?
http://www.rabbitinred.co.uk/catalog/index.php
I thought I would get a new shirt for FF2019 but it says the websites security certificate has expired? Anyone used it recently? Any other recommendations for similar genre Tshirt sellers?

Re: Heretiks
I suppose the question is just how many Paul Hyett films are we going to sit through at Frightfest before the conclusion is arrived at that *whisper it* - they are not very good?

Re: Strong Year?
Overall, I though the overall quality of films was no better or worse than recent years. There were probably fewer real stinkers. In common with the last few years, the films that caused the real buzz were in Discovery. I did feel the atmosphere in the Arrow Screen was a bit flat this year. I don't ...
Re: Terrified
Lots of effective moments here, but that doesn't make a film and for me, this ended up being a mess. It's always a risk to keep changing which character is the focus of the narrative and there wasn't enough here, the Director just wasn't adept enough to pull it off. There ended up being a lack of in...

Re: BRING BACK THE Q & As
Don't know if this is connected to the extended intros instead of Q&A's, but is anyone else noticing there seems to be more latecomers to screenings this year? In the Arrow screen especially, we seem to have quite a few people wandering in 5, 10 even 20 mins after the film has started. Wonder if...
Re: 3rd Night
What I really liked about this was the subversion (deliberate or otherwise) of the Aussie Horror genre format. We've seen so many "couple in remote location" movies with archetypal woodsman villain (and don't get me wrong - we saw a REALLY good one in Killing Ground), it was refreshing to ...
Re: Redwood
No-one replied to this. I don't want to be overly critical of an indie director - particularly given the presence of big budget nonsense like Jackals and Still Born showing - but be interested to get others thoughts. I was disappointed. In the Q&A the director let slip that the script was writte...

He's a clever, talented guy, I just wish he'd make a really great film one day.

Re: Top Five FF17 Films
5. Tragedy girls
4. 68 Kill
3. Killing Ground
2. Imitation Girl
1. Better Watch Out
Really strong line up this year and there are some cracking films in numbers 6-10 too. Also didn't see Ruin Me or Cold Hell which I'll try and catch up on soon

Re: The Bar
This was smart. The contrast between the unknown terror outside the bar against the human weaknesses on display inside it made for a very effective and tense film. Very good, very Spanish. 8/10
