Re: Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires
I respected the artistry and the love that had gone into it but I won’t lie I dozed off as did several others I know. I think it worked best as a short. I found the depiction of the female characters utterly hateful & the cheap lazy shots at cross dressing etc just felt really reactionary. I agr...

Top 5: 1. Tigers Are Not Afraid 2. One Cut of the Dead 3. Summer of 84 4. What Keeps You Alive 5. Upgrade Honourable mentions: Incident in a Ghostland, Book of Monsters and The Man Who Killed Hitler and then the Bigfoot. Re: Strong Year?
I thought it was a really strong year. Only two duds -Heretiks and A Field Guide to Evil for me. But this year was one where again the titles with a lot of buzz were in the Discovery screens -Tigers Are Not Afraid, The Devils Doorway and One Cut of the Dead. I don’t like it when ref must see films a...

Re: BRING BACK THE Q & As
Whilst I can understand the organisers not wanting to have streams of people leaving during the Q&As the issue with the extended intros is that some people just don’t care about the guests. I had a very vocal group behind me who clearly had zero interest in any of the guests & as such routin...

Re: Overall Thoughts
the AC felt just about right to me (with the exception of a couple of films where it was a bit hot if anything). I can only think some seats are directly under an air vent then or I'm particularly prone to feeling the cold because it was freezing in there most of the time. yeah it was super cold. I...

Re: Overall Thoughts
Personally I didn't have any issues with the legroom (nor did any of my friends) Interesting. Where were you sitting? Everyone I spoke to the first thing they talked about was the lack of leg room so it would be good to know if some rows were roomier than others. I was in row B and my knees touched...

Re: Overall Thoughts
I had a fantastic time. As a slightly lazy Frightfester who tends to stay in the main screen I thought the standard of the films was stronger than it has been in years. So many fantastic surprises. Lots of films that didn't particularly sound all that interesting from their write ups (Double Date, R...

Re: Best and worst film?
Best was 68 Kill -I just thought it was a riot.
Worst was Jackals which had stupid people dying dully. Runner up for worst was Death Note (utterly mediocre with a spectacularly unappealing lead) and The Terror of Hallows Eve which has beautiful creature work in need of a good story.

Re: Vue West 12 vs Vue West End
I'm outside of London so travel wise it is the same for me to go Leicester Square or Shepards Bush however I found that Shepards Bush for all it's amenities was a far better. With Leicester Square getting food in a sit down restaurant in the time between films is very tricky whereas Shepards Bush t...

Re: Vue West 12 vs Vue West End
To the chap living in South London, are there no buses? I guess we're lucky. We live in Zone 6 SW London and were able to take one bus each way, which cost us barely anything for travel and no accommodation required. There are 24-hour buses, yeah - 148 and 53/453 back to Peckham - but given the kin...

Re: Best and Worst Films of 2016
im interested in how marmite director's cut turned out to be, in a load of tops and bottoms. i fully cannot comprehend liking white coffin though. For me I kept waiting for Director's Cut to go much darker and it didn't. I kept waiting for him to start offing crew/director etc and it just went nowh...

Re: Thoughts on Frightfest 2016
I enjoy Frightfest every year and expect to see some good films, some surprising films and a fair bit of dross. This is probably the first year I've come away thinking that next year I really need to have a plan and properly research all the films so I can book and see more in the Discovery Screens....

Re: Vue West 12 vs Vue West End
Picturehouse Central would be glorious but I suspect maybe more expensive? Can't argue that the Vue events team and staff were amazingwakko wrote:Not a big fan of the Vue chain as I find them little sterile. Picturehouse cinemas would be a great location!

Top 5: 1. Train to Busan 2. Pet 3. Beyond the Gates 4. Broken 5. The Master Cleanse Bottom 5: 1. Abbatoir (1940's pot boiler dialogue & a criminally dull ghost story with terrible effects) 2. Blood Feast (although I'll concede it is a so bad its almost good movie) 3. Downhill (incomprehensible) ...
