Re: Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.

A lot of this is probably more down to London Film Festival than Frightfest really. If a film gets booked at LFF then it can't be shown at another festival. I think you've hit the nail on the head here. When the BFI rebranded the LFF and split their programme into categories (DARE, CULT etc-) and b...

Re: Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.

What about MANDY , which is showing at BIFFF, Bucheon and the NZ Film Festival (all July festivals), and has a release date of September? Can't see that being at LFF due to the release date, and can't see why it won't be at FrightFest when it's at two competing genre festivals a month before. Also T...

Re: Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.

We get threads like this every year. It's often the case that the lineup doesn't look that exciting because these are films that haven't had a chance to build buzz. The festivals look better in retrospect when we know what the good films were. The OP holds up 2014's lineup, but I don't think things...

But hey, that's one less person getting infront of me in the online queue I need to worry about, I suppose. For a festival like this to really...

Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.

Just thought I'd post my thoughts today. Very disappointed with the lineup, which has continued a trend since 2015 of being below expectations. I'm sure there are some fantastic hidden gems in there, but this isn't the Frightfest I used to know and love. Where are the coups, the tentpole films, the ...

Just a heads up for the FF team

Please do all you can to secure HEREDITARY for August this year, as I expect most FF fans will be wanting to see that.

Big hit at Sundance, and looking like it's this year's The Witch/Babadook/Get Out/You're Next etc.

Re: Food

Couple of places I always visit when I'm in town Herman ze German - 33 Old Compton St, Soho, London W1D 5JU Chipotle Mexican Grill - 92-93 St Martin's Ln, London WC2N 4AP Last time Frightfest was in Leicester Square, Herman ze German were offering a pretty hefty discount on food with a festival pass

Re: Thoughts on the schedule so far?

Too late for Frightfest to squeeze in THE RITUAL? UK horror being released early-October. Trailer looks great...

Discovery screen 'nepotism'.

Forgive me for being too intrusive, but it feels like a little 'nepotism' is creeping into Frightfest. It seems almost every year we see the same faces coming back for a consecutive or even three years in a row. I always thought the 'Discovery' screens were supposed to be exactly that - the opportun...

Thoughts on the schedule so far?

Think this was a pretty weak year - not just for Frightfest but horror in general - no really 'big' films or 'hyped up' films from earlier festivals, so think in respect of that, this was probably the best we were going to get unless there were any real 'coups' having world premieres. Opening night ...

Pretty good chance that CULT OF CHUCKY will be at FF? It's released in the UK in October and we obviously had CURSE OF CHUCKY a couple of years ago.

Looks like we're hotel buddies. :)
Likewise, also booked in 5 nights @ The Hub, Covent Garden. Bit on the pricey side, but excellent location and looks great.

Re: Movies For August 2017 Fest

Could IT COMES AT NIGHT be in line for FF? US release date is 9th June and no UK release date confirmed. Getting lots of good reviews. Even if a UK release date isn't confirmed by then, or is a long way off, I can't see why a special advance screening wouldn't be possible unless it was going to be s...

Calibre - Two men go on a hunting trip into the Scottish Highlands where they end up fighting for survival against vengeful locals. Radius - Canadian sci-fi. After a car crash, Liam wakes up with amnesia and finds that anybody who comes within 50 feet of him dies instantly. Out of all of the films ...

Re: Movies For August 2017 Fest

Have a feeling that maybe WOODSHOCK will be on the schedule - no UK date announced and it's in the can. It's being distributed by A24 in the states and they've got a good decent track record for genre films (THE WITCH, GREEN ROOM, UNDER THE SKIN etc). Poster got released today. I bet I'm right! Sep...
