Re: What happen to the hygiene guy?

Well at least is was dealt with subtley before having to take drastic action.

We dont know what was going on in that guys life so he should have been asked to leave without making a scene. But then im a softy.

Black Site

I really wanted to like this film. I really did. I love cosmic horror, and you cant get any more cosmic than the elder gods. However, despite the big tentacled horror that flashed up in dream sequences, the gods were sadly absent. Where ever they went, they seemed to have taken some serious bits of ...

Await Further Instructions

A great, suspenseful tale of a racist, christian, family ruled over by an overbearing father coming to terms with their sons new indian girlfriend. Oh and the fact that theyre trapped in their house on christmas day being ordered about by their TV probably isnt helping matters. As the orders become ...

Re: What Keeps You Alive

Well acted and emotional. Although the main character is clearly a run in for 'worst decision maker 2018' award.

Re: Frightfest Thanks

Seconded!

Although maybe next year a few less lesbians make out scenes and people getting their throat slit. I know all the films were being fresh and diverse, but it loses its punch when they all do it at the same time.

Its no 'Once More with Feeling' but it was fairly cool. None of the songs stuck with me though.

Re: Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich

As a Puppet master film, it was shite, but as a film about killer puppets, it was alright. It have no fucks as to who died and how with great humour, likable characters, puppet design and soundtrack. I know it was a re-imagining (possibly could be seen as a alternate reality of the original), so ill...

Re: Possum

This was bleak, depressing, a well thought out and tortuously twisting plot that made absolutly no sense until right at the very end, but a little too surreal, slow and disjointed for me to truely enjoy. I figure that im just not intelligent/sophisticated/cultured enough to appriciate it fully. Very...

Re: The Field Guide to Evil

It was bad. I even said that it was worse that Psychopaths when I left the cinema, which I shouldnt have done. Nothing is as bad as Psychopaths. Having thought about it more, I can see a slight charm in it that I was too bored to notice as first. I liked the book animations.... The Sleep Paralysis o...

Re: Upgrade

Im of two minds with this film. Whilst it was an entertaining film to watch, with nice visuals, likable characters, and enough action to keep you going without giving you time to remember youre in a cinema. Oh the other hand, I found the plot so obvious and see through that I had figured the whole t...

Re: Heretiks

I liked this film, up until the end. I loved the atmosphere, the sturn/total bitch Reverand Mother (played by the fantastic Claire Higgins), haunting and bleak settings and actually scary spirits. However, almost all the characters were whiny and boring or overly sturn and grumpy. All until it all s...

Re: Strong Year?

This was my second year, so I dont have a lot to go on, but compared to last year id say the floor has risen, but the roof has lowered. Basically, there wasnt anything that was utterly terrible (im looking at you, Psychopaths), but nothing that blew my socks off (like Better watch out). There were f...

Re: Ravers

I really liked this movie, although im certainly not a raver or clubber (rather a nice cup of tea and an episode of Midsommer Murders). The premise was simple, protagonists were likable enough, effects were good and the resultant mutant was sufficiently Troma-esque to be scary and humourous. I didnt...

Re: DARK SCREEN?

I did find the screen a little dark. It is a horror film festival though, so most of the films will be dark (which benifited films such as Heretiks, as it drove home the darkness of the convent, but wasnt a great benefit to the black and white segment in Feild Guide to Evil) but was a little too dar...
