I liked it a lot. Could have done with a bit more scary content, but it was a million times better than most mainstream "horror for people who don't like horror" movies.

I'm still not a fan of Megan Fox, but Amanda Seyfried was excellent. And lovely.

I think it's great that Alan and co. decided to give us the extra choice and I'm certainly not going to moan about having another screen competing with the main one and supposedly breaking up the community spirit of the whole thing (as some have) . That'd be me!  But like you, I stuck wi...

You must have missed the Discovery Screen films as well, though, presumably?

As for the Descent 2 girl saying something out of order. Shauna said she thought the director was maybe better than Neil Marshall, this seemed more likely to be a joke. After all she didn't claim the Descent 2 was a new genre of horror(caving horror without the claustrophobia(think the cave did thi...

We may be old, but it was a good era to grow up in, wasn't it?! :D

Just for interest's sake: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/markkermode/2009/08/heartless_in_mouth.html Why doesn't Kermode ever show up at Frightfest? He's not particularly anti-horror, is he? Or maybe he has... I've certainly seen him at festival screenings, but maybe that was the London Film Festival.

Did people laugh?
A few did, a few of us muttered "is it fuck"..... it was one of those moments of hesitation when you're not sure if someone's joking or not.

But anyway.... I kind of liked Shadow . The plot was absolute nonsense, the performances were terrible.... but the skinny Nazi guy was genuinely creepy and I thought the film looked amazing. Not sure if credit should go to the director or to the cinematographer. I did think it was really cool that Z...

Or maybe it was: I can't remember anything Can't tell if this is true or dream Deep down inside I feel to scream This terrible silence stops me Now that the war is through with me I'm waking up I can not see That there is not much left of me Nothing is real but pain now Hold my breath as I wish for ...

The Tesseract will always be etched on my mind as my worst-ever Frightfest experience. 90 minutes (or whatever it was) of almost unbearable tedium. One of the very few genuine 0/10 movies I've ever seen.

Why could the girl escape a burning house but not a sinking car? Because climbing of a ground-floor window whilst your crazy foster-mother runs around sloshing petrol about isn't difficult. You're probably right... I thought she'd drugged her, locked all exits etc but my memory could be failing me....

I wasn't expecting much, but it was OK. I'm a bit of a sucker for Bad Seed movies. I did think both Zelleger and McShane were too easily convinced the kiddie was evil - it might've worked better if she kept denying it to herself. And it all got too frantic towards the end. Why could the girl escape ...

It wasn't a good horror movie, but the dialogue was very funny.

Killing off Johnny Dee Hellfire 20 minutes before the end was a huge mistake, though.

Revenge thrillers, even stupid ones, are always entertaining but it's good to see a serious, thought-provoking movie which also delivers on the action and nastiness. I like the way the film presents Christian not as a hero, but as a tortured man who isn't even sure what he's doing is right, even tho...
