Re: Inner Demon
An obvious attempt to combine 2 massive Aussie hits, Wolf Creek and Babadook but the only time it looks like it might work is the first 20 minutes which were quite tense I thought. As soon as it went with the thuddingly cliched "girl on the run seeks refuge in *shock* the killers house" it lost all ...
The Sand
Saturday night....creature feature with a pretty young cast...what could possibly go wrong? Sadly most of it. There was a lot of dead time when nothing happened and when it did it was characterised by lame humour and dodgy CGI. Oh for a few decent gross-out physical effects. Maybe in the sequel...

Final Girl
Young woman gets trained to dispense justice to roaming packs of serial killers who dress like Frank Sinatra for reasons I couldn't grasp. Quite an odd film, not totally unlikeable but rather forgettable. In fact I'm struggling to recall much that happened at all. All I know is that they take her in...
Re: Demonic
Run-of-the-mill okayness with Wan's name attached to ensure good dvd rentals. Didn't like the revelation in the first 5 mins of who lives and who dies (barring the SAW trademark closing scene "twist"). Had its moments and was a reasonable afternoon bit of main screen filler.

The Entity
South American found footage. I quickly wished it had stayed lost. Lots of running round graveyards and people being lifted into the air and flying off like Peter Pan in the village panto. Had some cracking dialogue in which one character had to explain to another why a torture scene they were watch...
Re: Hellions
Great visuals...odd story, somewhat dreamlike and maybe we had all had our fill of possessed pregnancies after the night before. Still, about 5 films in and we'd had Michael Ironside, Lance Henrikson and Robert Patrick ! That's a result in my book.
Pod
I've seen a few negative reviews of this but I thought it was a great little film. Cranked up the tension nicely and you never knew quite what the paranoid army vet was keeping in his basement until they opened the door.... Sadly, when they did the film slid down a fairly well worn path but that asi...
Re: Stung
Would rate this as just ok.... most of the cast were bumped off pretty quickly and it left just the two leads + Lance Henrikson to wander around a big house for quite a while. Preferred the crazed beavers of 2014 to the giant bees of 2015.
Re: Turbo Kid
Really delivered to an audience numbed by what they had just witnessed in Cherry Tree. Ticked all the 80's boxes and gave us some mighty schlock gore in the final third.

Re: Cherry Tree
Had high hopes for this after enjoying Wake Wood but as everyone else has described, it was a big letdown. Dodgy script, dodgy acting and lacking in horror and suspense. Great centipedes though, I hope this doesn't spell the end of their burgeoning careers.

Re: FrightFest 2015 dates for you diary
My suggestion is to go all online to a reliable ticket seller like Eventbrite. It gets everyone regardless of where they live an equal shout. If they cannot link to a specific seat then you just buy your weekend/day pass and get allocated the seat later with the "best" seats going to the earliest bu...

Re: Frightfest's worst movie ever?
Zombie Women of Satan is by some considerable margin the worst film I have seen at FF

Digging up the Marrow
Anyone else want to put up an opinion on this one. Adam Green asked the audience not to say too much but Nightbreed and Fraggle Rock both sprang to mind at various times !! It's worth a watch; nothing ground breaking here but a fun film with some good jump scares and sly comedy.

Re: I survived a zombie hollocaust
Not a great advancement of the zomcom genre. The comedy was laboured and the main character really irritated me with his simpering tweeness. Zombie STD aside, this has all been done better elsewhere.

Re: The Harvest
There seems to be a lot of love for this in the forum which unfortunately I cannot profess to share. In look and sound it was very tv movie and just when I was hoping Samantha Morton would go all "Hand that Rocks the Cradle" it just fizzled out. The actress playing the young girl was fantastic thoug...
