Re: Frighfest Halloween

Horror Movie

At times quite bleak and at other times pretty funny. An interesting documentary about the making of Red Christmas that I nearly skipped, but pleased that I didn't. A must-see for anyone thinking of making their own movie. 7.5 / 10

Re: Frighfest Halloween

A big thank you to Ian, Paul, Greg and Alan, as well as the Empire staff for a great Halloween Frightfest! My first London edition for four years didn't disappoint and I definitely prefer the day format to the allnighter. I have been to Haymarket before, but not in that auditorium, which proved to b...

Re: mother! review.

Thanks for the review! Saw it last night and certainly not what I was expecting - probably the most bizarre film I have seen since We Are The Flesh.

Harvest Moon

Some of you may be interested in a movie project on Kickstarter that could do with some backing by the looks of it, Harvest Moon: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/250731370/harvest-moon-movie It has an interesting cast (Robert Englund, Lance Henriksen, Betsy Baker, Yvonne Strahovski etc) and a p...

Re: Frighfest Halloween

Thanks Ian,

Do we know yet at what time the Halloween tickets will be made available? Just wondering as I might be flying on that day and hence may not be able to log in at the time myself....

Re: Overall Thoughts

I thought the Banshee Chapter was underrated when it screened a few years back - it definitely appealed to me too!

Re: Personal safety

Although probably worth bearing in mind that some of us come from sleepier towns and also are not necessarily familiar with the geography - I'd like to think I have been coming to Frightfest long enough to know my way around the environs, but if streets started to be closed then getting around effic...

Re: Overall Thoughts

I know this was in The Terror of Hallow's Eve, but which was the other film?

As anyone growing up in the eighties will know, "Timmy" conjures up images of Timmy Mallett and there is surely nothing more horrifying than that!

Random Music Questions

Firstly, well done to whoever took the effort to either prepare or procure or supply the music played before the films - it was great to hear many classics associated with the genre! Particularly enjoyed Cry Little Sister , which I haven't heard for years. Now I have two random music questions from ...

Given Adam's comments at the showing if anyone feels my spoiler in my OP is too spoilery I can delete it.

Re: The Glass Coffin

In terms of the reveal I was thinking along the lines of an actress taking such extravagant revenge against another actress for stealing a part, which didn't really work for me. Plus the somewhat random affliction which made the antagonist look like a hag from hell. Still, the scenery at the end was...

Overall Thoughts

Just some random thoughts on the festival films overall. Trends included fun films and horrors directed by / starring women. Maybe I didn't make the right screen selections and perhaps the films aren't out there right now, but there was a scarcity of hard-hitting, suspenseful or thought-provoking fi...
