Thanks Ian for the reply - we shall wait and see who or what he has in store!

Re: Thoughts on the schedule so far?

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm still procrastinating over which films to see! Does anyone know how shaky the camera work will be for Boots on the Ground ? I get motion sickness but could just about cope with The Blair Witch Project , but if it is worse than that I fear I could struggle to s...

Re: Guests

Will Adam Green be on his own for the Hatchet screening or will he be bringing any guests from the cast?

Re: Glasgow Suggestions

On a positive note I did like the Frightfest specific brochures - having got used to having the London programme I always felt this was missing from the Glasgow event, so well done and thank you to whoever progressed the production of this year's brochure! Hopefully this will be a regular feature at...

Re: Glasgow Suggestions

How did people find the wristbands? I unwisely put mine on too tight and couldn't get it off again, so I ended up cutting it off on Friday night. So my wrist now looks like I spent the weekend in a torture p**n movie! Out of the 3 options (lanyard, wristband and stamp) I think the least worst option...

Glasgow Suggestions

Now, before I start hopefully from my other postings it is clear that I thoroughly enjoyed the festival this year, possibly my favourite of all of the years I have attended. However, I wondered if anyone had any thoughts for improvements for future years? I don't want to kick-start too much focus on...

Re: Frightfest Glasgow 2017 Reviews

Just to clarify on Bloodlands after a quick bit of research:
Spoiler:
A shtriga is from Albanian folklore and is actually a vampiric witch so that clears up both what the entity was and also confirms why the two terms of "vampire" and "witch" could be used interchangeably.

Re: Frightfest Glasgow 2017 Reviews

The Night of the Virgin Unfortunately by this stage of the night, on film 7, I was too tired and my legs were giving me too much grief from the inadequate leg-room to really get into this one. The positives include a spattering of humour and some interesting special effects, but some parts of the f...

Hounds of Love
Another corker, this devastatingly brilliant examination of the dysfunctional relationship between the two main characters - as well as those they come into contact with - is both macabre and fascinating. I did wonder if there was any significance to the 1987 setting though? 9 / 10

Re: Frightfest Glasgow 2017 Reviews

Raw Not quite sure why this has been hyped so much as being controversial and extreme, but I thoroughly enjoyed this coming of age tale. I thought the young lead was excellent. Personally I would have appreciated a few more shocking scenes perhaps an end one with the underused Laurent Lucas? Overal...

Re: Frightfest Glasgow 2017 Reviews

Detour A neo-noir, road trip movie with plenty of twists and humour to keep entertainment levels high. One of those movies where the characters seem to keep spiralling ever deeper into bigger holes and director Chris Smith does a good job of tying it all together. Loved the moral ambiguity of the c...

Re: Frightfest Glasgow 2017 Reviews

Bloodlands A dark, occasionally brutal family feud shocker with supernatural elements, not entirely unlike a 1970s Argento . The plot was relatively simplistic, but well executed. Strangely, after numerous references that the main antagonist could be a witch, the director stated afterwards that she...

Re: Frightfest Glasgow 2017 Reviews

Fashionista Ended up being like a cross between Mulholland Drive and Eyes Wide Shut as April's world unravels and she descends into dark, murky depths. I suspected that Essoe's character was going to be a former victim of Randall's who got away, was thought to be mad by the authorities and was then...
