Re: What does everyone think of the line up then?

I MUST get that optimism gland removed. It's doing me no favours at all ... :| R.I.P.D. was up against Pacific Rim and World War Z, so no wonder its box office was weak. I think if anyone goes into that film expecting anything other than brainless popcorn action then they'll be seriously disappoint...

Re: This years Festival guests

So when will the guest list be advertised ? remember last year they put out a list of who was coming They already announced that there will be no Total Film Icon this year, but I seem to remember the 26th being the date for the guests announced. Did they? I thought they were still trying to get som...

Re: Discovery Film Recommendations

Wither looks good if you like Evil Dead I guess, I want to see V/H/S 2, but I may catch Wither instead of I Spit On Your Grave 2 if I'm awake enough and decide not to have an early night, absolutely no plans to watch I Spit 2 anyway. Painless looks very good from the trailer. Snap looks very dark a...

Re: No headline guest this year?

Just wondering on this one. I know the guest line-up is still to be announced, but looking at the schedule, there doesn't seem to be anywhere they could fit an on-stage interview of any significant duration. Early afternoon on Friday - Dementamania is 83 minutes long and starts at 12.45pm, so shoul...

Re: 3D Films for Frightfest 2013

Yes, it's getting extremely irritating the way every big movie MUST be in 3D now, when it's always post-conversion and adds nothing apart from an extra 2 quid to the ticket price. In terms of FF, Final Destination 5 was great in 3D cos it had actually been made for it, with spikes coming out of the ...

Re: What does everyone think of the line up then?

The biggest clashes I have are: Painless or Outpost: Rise of the Spetsnaz, Cannon fodder or Contracted and Sadik 2 or Antisocial. Any help deciding welcome! Also, perhaps we could exchange twitter names for us to share reviews of the films during the FF weekend? I think if Outpost: Rise of the Spet...

Re: What does everyone think of the line up then?

i wouldn't write off 100 bloody acres - my prediction is it will be the suprise hit of the weekend. Have you seen it? Just wondering what makes you say that, because its looks poor from the trailer, and I was already thinking about seeing Snap instead or just getting an early night. It's always a f...

Re: What does everyone think of the line up then?

I think the Discovery line-up is incredibly strong as well. I desperately want to see "Stalled" and "Wither", both of which have great advance word. Have the usual problem with them clashing with main screens films I want to see though. Grrr... Stalled does look fun, I think I may have to sk...

Re: sleepy queue

Dear wolfshade - I am the one who started the 'petty argument' & can assure you that my information was not factually incorrect! I was there in the queue for long enough to witness what was going on around me & to hear conversations pertaining to the fact that some people recognised they were queue...

Re: sleepy queue

These are very strange arguments. It is ok to sit with mates because you always sit with them, but not ok to do this when you only vaguely know someone? . NO! The point was it doesn't matter if groups of friends get together in the queue in order to sit with each other, it is just the same as getti...

Re: What does everyone think of the line up then?

Yeah, it looks better than last year, on first glance V/H/S 2, You're Next, Dark Touch, Big Bad Wolves and Odd Thomas would appear to be the highlights...but my initial impressions always prove to be wrong so who knows. I always try to see some of the Disco screen films, so possibly Antisocial (I ca...

N26

Interestingly enough the exact same seat I was in last year! This wasn't intentional, but just how it turned out.

Re: sleepy queue

Wulfster, You seem to be an overly nice guy, apologising to a confessed queue jumper, who with a mix of snobbery and self-righteousness seems to think that a few caveats (distance traveled, number of festivals attended, etc) justify the sociopathic behaviour that is queue jumping. I actually had li...

Re: sleepy queue

As for queue jumpers... There are lots of acceptable scenarios that are valid. The only situation that annoys me (and does happen) is represented by the following imaginary conversation; Cool Fright-fester: "Well it's 6am, and here I am in the sleepy queue. Only 4 hours to go. I wonder where my mat...

Re: Films for Frightfest August 2013

Think the timings still need to be sorted out, on Friday there seems to be a film at 12 then nothing until 4pm, and there's 2 films at 6pm on Saturday. Maybe they're adding the Total Icon interview in between those times? ah maybe, but nothing mentioned so far. Would make sense though, as the Total...
