Re: Vue vs. Empire

Yes, a smaller event would really help the ticketing problems! I thought the Vue worked well, with a few niggles which can be easily improved for next year. Many aspects were better than the Empire, particularly the space in the bar area etc. Was never that keen on the Empire, I preferred the days o...

Re: Thoughts on FrightFest @ Vue so far..

Not being a big user of the Disco screens, it's hard to think of a much better way of organising it..... surely it's better than the old system of having to turn up early each morning in the hope of getting tickets for that day? The few times I tried that in the past, everything I wanted was sold o...

Ah, that makes sense, thanks for that!

Glad it wasn't just me who didn't spot the significance of the tattoos.

Re: Frightfest 2015

Happy to say that overall I thought the new format worked pretty well. I was in Screen 5 which although not Empire 1 was a decent size with a good screen and sound and the layout looked as if you could get a reasonable view even if your seat was at the far edges of the seating. I might have felt di...

If you can't wait that long there's a Pete Walker season coming up at the Barbican!

Lemon Tree Passage

Skipped Xmoor to see this one.

Australian horror film in the "Backpackers getting murdered" genre. Enjoyable with an intriguing premise, but the ending seemed to go on for ages so the film ended up feeling 10 minutes too long which is a shame for an 80 minute film! Worth a look all the same.

The Forgotten

Loved this low-budget British horror in the Disco screen.

Set on a deserted derelict council estate, man squatting in a flat with his teenage son while nicking metal from the other flats, turns out a murder happened next door, creepy stuff happens!

Re: Thoughts on FrightFest @ Vue so far..

Overall I thought it worked really well - obviously would be better to have one big screen but as noted above it's not possible (until we get much bigger and move to the Odeon Leicester Square :) ) I was very sceptical as I remember the first year the London Film Festival used the Vue which was a ni...

Re: The Strain

I was highly amused 20 minutes after starting this thread to get to the screen and find a flyer for The Strain on every seat :p

Actually given the title they missed a trick by bit sponsoring the bogs :)

Alleluia

I loved this although I suspect it will divide opinion.

In fact I liked it so much I decided to skip VHS Viral (already had to skip the closing film) so I ended the fest on a high note!

Re: Nymph

Fairly poor and best treated as a comedy which I don't think was the intention. Plot seemed to be inspired by Scooby Doo.

Anyone up for joining in with the dialogue from the Strain trailer today? I think we must all know it off by heart by now

The House at the End of Time

This was great, possibly my favourite of the festival so far. Ghost story with a resolution that made perfect sense in retrospect but I didn't see coming. I think I had something in my eye at the end, must have been a problem with the air conditioning. US remake rights have been sold apparently, hop...
