Re: Quality of films this year

Shockwave Darkside was 2014.
Yup you're right, I'm still damaged by it. But my point still stands, last year and this year were poor.
Both 2014 and 2015 had poor lineups in my opinion. I definitely think this year was an ...

Walking in and out of theater

Frightfest has done a great job over the years ensuring no one will leave their phones on and disturb a movie with an annoying ring tone. I think it is time we turn our attention to people walking in and out in the middle of a movie. And I don't mean 2 or 3 people who may have had an "emergency" dur...

Re: Cell

5/10 Forgettable; hardly anything worth saving, including Cusack's wooden performance and laughable finale.

4/10 Pretty annoying film with the saving grace of the scary scenes towards the end, including at the parking lot.

Re: Downhill

Terribly boring and self-important film. I was hoping the female lead would die very quickly to spare us all the uncalled for on-screen modelling.
One of the worst of an otherwise fairly mediocre 2016 festival.

Willow Street

Lederhosen zombies
Knucklebones

Train to Busan

There seem to be quite a few "home invasion" films this year...

Re: Bait

I enjoyed this film and the social aspect was useful and fresh. However, all the market scenes and some of the dialogue seemed just straight out of a Coronation Street or Emmerdale episode, which needless to say really put me off.

Re: Is Frightfest becoming 'trendy'?

I don't think so. I've done 12 years and I don't see a drop in general film quality or any sign of "trending", whatever that might mean. One thing worries me, though. As a huge fan of zombies, I have found a serious lack of zombies in the Main Screen lineup this year, perhaps with the only exception...

My top and bottom 3

I have given some thought to my top and bottom 3 from FF2015, considering that this year I watched all the Main Screen films and nothing else. Top 3 1. We are still here (8.5/10) 2. Deathgasm (8/10) 3. A Christmas story (7.5/10) I reaaaally wanted to put Inner Demon at 2 or 3, as I loved the atmosph...

Re: Jeruzalem

Fun enough. Too much like Cloverfield, with the happy party atmosphere suddenly turning into unexpected monster action. Good, interesting characters and good pace.

Loved the film. Not really a metal fun, but really enjoyed the score and what it did to the film.

Re: Some Kind Of Hate

I found this film absolutely dreadful, and I am shocked to read some positive reviews here and there, including a gloating "cult classic" review at Fangoria. Could I really be so far off? Never mind. I really could not stand the pathetic dialogues, the lame (but non-stop) bullying, the way that dead...

Re: FrightFest ticketing 2015

Saturday I was using a foreign credit card and I had a problem with the confirmation before timing out. I started again and bought a festival pass, only to get a few minutes later confirmation for TWO festival passes, as apparently the first "timed-out" purchase had gone through. a. Can anyone help ...

Re: FrightFest ticketing 2015

Whatever you decide, please remember those of us who come from overseas. The sleepy queue sounds like fun, but it's not an option if you are 2k miles away from London. I have attended regularly for 10 years and last year I panicked that I would not be able to get a festival pass despite spending muc...

Re: How Film4 FrightFest will work in 2014

Was walking past the Vue just now and popped in on the off chance and am now £170 poorer :) Looked to be 3 or 4 weekend passes left in screen 5, not sure if that's the lot or if there were some in the other screens but she just checked 5 first My usual strategy of assuming I won't get a ticket then...
