Re: Upgrade

Budget Tom Hardy did very well.

Great set pieces, good dark humour, well paced and I can honestly say one of the few films that didn't go too long. Up there with the best I've seen.

I wasn't there for the incident but in this present time of outrage and offence I feel I must have an opinion on the matter...

Re: Climax

Noe basically found the raw and apparently "lost" footage from the "hell" scene in Event Horizon and stuck 80/90s hit singles over the top of it. Being honest I thought I would hate this and I was prepared to walk (mainly so I could get the drinks in early, yeah a film about excess causing the audie...

The only film I really found issue with was Boar. The blacks were crushing and it was hard to make out what was happening at times.

Re: DARK SCREEN?

Having only projected on "normal" screens with old film projectors, it is possible this dark screen phenomena may be linked to the "not an imax experience" warning.

Re: The Duke Mitchell Party 2018

I found it a bit toe curling to be honest, a love in for the FF "in" crowd. Didn't find it funny or entertaining in the slightest and left after 45 minutes, one to avoid for me next year. Were you the guy that sprayed Kronenbourg all over himself? To be fair, it has reached "in crowd" potential, wh...

Re: Strong Year?

I'd agree with it being a strong year.

I saw what I feel was only one duff/irritating film (Braid), a bunch of average/better than average ones, some good ones and one of the best of any festival.

So with most rating higher than meh, it was a strong year.

Re: BRING BACK THE Q & As

I'm sure all the guests are told, in days of yore, that an after film Q&A is likely to see people leaving because they need to get to another film, get something to eat, or you know, take a piss. If their egos are so fragile that this "not a good luck" exodus of the audience damages them, then fuck ...

The Duke Mitchell Party 2018

I don't know. I've been going to these since I accidentally stumbled on the first one and this year it was just a bit...meh. The long queue and the back search before hand was a nonsense. I am fully versed in licensing laws but for future reference maybe start this thing a bit earlier so (if it is i...

Secret Santa

As ego dictates, must start threads... Very good fun. A good intro from the writers/directors which was indeed accurate that it was the violence of the verbal kind that had more of an impact than the actual physical shenanigans and gore. A tad too long and could have left it without the last coda bu...

I don't know if this is useful to anyone else but I've built a mobile-friendly FF schedule that condenses the wisdom of the full programme onto a single, fairly small, web page. It should display pretty well on mobile phones.

Quality work. Thanks.

Re: Discovery/first blood tks

Printed out, on a phone, on any device should be a valid way to enter the screen for the film you have a ticket for. They don't scan the tickets, just look at them so a good function pair of eyes is all that is required. The plan is to scan tickets this year after fans were taking advantage of ticke...
