Re: Downhill

It was weird. Thats basically all I could think of it. ...and knocking off another point for the obviously paid review below. You're not fooling anyone... I was going to say "this isn't IMDb, people can have opinions without an alterior motive"... ...but that review really is conspicuous, isn't it? ...

Re: The Rezort

I realise there's a difference between a character's viewpoint and the filmmaker's. The Last Winter might be my favourite movie despite that I don't believe in global warming. But this film certainly seems with the SJW viewpoints of that one character. The only non-SJW thing about this movie is the ...

How to obtain Discovery tickets with code?

How can I use the code on the festival pass to obtain discovery screen tickets? Or is it too early? I don't remember how early it was last year.

Frightfest's Friday day actually had enough movies that interested me for two days, so I'm catching up.

Anyway, very well written. It was very emotionally engaging. Thankfully, they didn't use the kind of "twist" that negates practically the entire movie, which films have a tendency to do.

Wind Walkers

Not impressed with this one. The relations between characters aren't defined enough for some scenes to work. We never knew the dynamic between the protagonist and his friend, and we don't know that one father or the son he was forced to shoot enough to understand the father's loss. Most "obligatory"...

Re: The Sand

I thought the tension was very good. Most of the decisions the characters made were very resourceful and while it did have the generic "lets talk about something really important while we should be focusing on something"... I wouldn't want that stuff stuck in my head during that situation either.

Re: Tales Of Halloween

There were some weird things going on here. The story with killer pumpkins was interesting. However, there were a lot of similar stories with kids being literal or figurative monsters. The comedic parts were effective.

When that girl appeared and then escaped, suddenly she was front and centre, and I was very worried turn annoying by being another example of killing off the characters the movie is actually about just to rehash the final girl cliche again. Fortunately it wasn't. As for what did happen, the characte...

Interesting that Blumhouse Studios actually did something different for once. The only major problem is that the events that lead to the protagonist getting revenge are very contrived. Probably would've made more sense to if they left it at her survival. Apprently he took the cop to his torture shac...

Lots of effective potential for threat but in the end it just didn't measure up.

Shatner really isn't as hammy as I'd been led to believe, and gave great charisma to some of the characters he played here.

The only flaw was that the "recapitation" was quite early and nothing topped it.

I considerPontypoolthe single scariest movie I've seen so I think its good this one took a different approach and didn't try to outdo it. That said, while slightly disturbing it could've been a lot beter.

The woman in the house was disturbing enough that the situation seemed very dire.
