Re: The Neighbour

I thoroughly enjoyed this - good solid all-action stuff with the power balance jumping from goodies to baddies and back again right through to the end and more than enough unexpected bits to keep it interesting. Strong, believable performances all round and having liked Alex Essoe in Starry Eyes it ...

Re: Abbatoir

My only walkout this year, and I should have gone sooner. Utterly crap, and cost me 40 minutes of my life I'll never get back - I knew I should have gone to see the third set of shorts instead. I don't watch the trailers and like to go in blind, so once I've established that a film is neither found ...

Re: Train to Busan

My favourite too. I would have liked the bad guy to get a nastier end and there was a moment of misplaced excitement when the good guys entered a carriage at stage left where I thought we were in for a homage to the corridor scene in Oldboy, but even without these happening I thought it was just jaw...

Re: Costume for this year

I still think that an encouraged fancy dress day/session would be fab. I am so keen to dress up one day but don't want to look like a massive bell-end. Aw... my massive bell-end costume was nearly finished but now I'm racked with doubt... Nah, don't be dissuaded. You come as a massive bellend, I'll...

Re: Additional screenings in screen 7

Thanks Ian - I'd wondered too since aiming for the Screen 7 My Father Die showing would have given me a bigger cushion timewise on the way down, and I reckon I would have still made it to the HC screen in time for Cell (just). I'm too impatient about seeing my seat after the nightmare getting my pas...

Re: Most skippable main screen movies?

Also skipping Rezort in favour of Cruel Summer and missing Jeeg Robot for Lost Solace. I'm not that taken by ReaLive either (but I'll give it a go) and I wasn't sure about The Woods (don't like found footage and fell asleep watching Blair Witch) or 31, so I'm happy that I've now got easy get outs fo...

Got one at last and a good seat too!

Fuck, that was awful.

Re: Ticket Sales

Well I'm genuinely glad everybody else seems to have had such an easy time. I tried to select a seat three times just to have it disappear and I've had nothing but the completely sold out screen for almost half an hour now. Unless it does turn out to be a glitch, it looks like I won't be going for t...

Re: Which Screen Is Which ??

I'd like to know too, since I like to sit in the centre and only one of the three screens (9) mentioned doesn't have the bloody aisle right down the middle. I can make my schedule work with either the Horror Channel or the Splice programme, so I'm happy enough with the odds :). I suspect HC will hav...

This pretentious mess was the only film I walked out of in the whole of last year including six separate festivals. Beyond awful, and so noisy you can't even sleep through it (God knows, I tried).

Re: Dead By Dawn

Yes, it's fine - I don't think I've ever been to a festival where bags weren't allowed in and there's a Sainsbury's Local just around the corner to the right. There's also Nandos, Wagamama, McDonalds and so on as well as a chipper that's open until 3am all within 5-10 minutes walk and a decent break...

Re: Dead By Dawn

I've gone to Dead By Dawn every year for a long time - it's far and away my favourite festival and whilst FrightFest is great, sometimes it's nice not to have to spend a working weeks worth of hours planning which films to see, what clashes with what, where to sit and so on. You just turn up and sit...

Re: FrightFest has a new home for 2016

I'll admit I wasn't very happy when I read this either having also booked my (Kings Cross) hotel a few weeks ago, and it's going to be a 2-night-bus return journey for me too, but having seen what people are apparently paying for the Ibis I could get a cab back each night and still be ahead, so it's...

Re: Slumlord

This was OK, but I was disappointed that it didn't get a lot nastier and I agree that it was too tame. The ingredients for some really banal, everyday type misandric gruesomeness a'la Henry were all there, and then nothing much happened. Wasted opportunity.

Re: We Are Still Here

Fell asleep in the middle of this, thanks mostly to feeling dog-rough after Jeruzalem's wobblefest and the oven-like temperatures in the Arrow screen. I hadn't been grabbed too much by the first half hour or so that I remember, but I'll watch it again and persevere after reading the rest of this; I ...
