Re: FrightFest ticketing 2015

It must feel great to have finally got all this decided, sorted and out of the way, and I haven't envied Ian and the team one bit - thanks for the info Ian and also for the fact that I can now get my FF pass whilst annihalating a room service breakfast, safe in the knowledge that we're all on a leve...

Re: Which Way You Hold It?

I have my tablet the landscape way round and the case it's in props it that way too. I've usually got at least one film on the go, so having it in portrait would be odd to me, and I browse sites/edit my own and use Skype all with it this way. Phone would be portrait, but I use a BlackBerry anyway so...

Re: FrightFest 2015 dates for you diary

As above, always pay cash - easier, quicker and no faffing about - it wouldn't be a total catastrophe if I was forced to use a card, but I'd rather not if at all possible. If your cash is getting messy, you're not rolling it tightly enough :). I don't know if the BFI would even entertain the idea me...

Re: FrightFest Glasgow 2015

Yep, since they were the most helpful part of the entire process I rang the box office back, and they cancelled the superfluous ticket. For an awful moment I thought I might have to find someone to go with, and I don't like anybody I know that much. I always queue for London for the pure simplicity ...

Re: FrightFest Glasgow 2015

Well I have the opposite problem - one of my assumed failed attempts at booking online seems to have gone through after all, which I didn't know when I gave up and booked over the phone (according to my bank two lots of seventy pounds have been taken). I know the seat number of the one I thought mig...

Re: Frightfest's worst movie ever?

Merciful God, I'd forgotten House of the Dead (and Postal, and Seed...)

I know the bar was set pretty high to start with, but when somebody brings Uwe Boll into things I think it's safe to say the gloves are off.

Re: V/H/S Viral

Oh no, I did see that bit. They'd just hastily snapped it off the main film and retitled it Xmoor.

Re: Faults

This was my favourite of the whole festival I think, closely followed by The Canal. And I nearly skipped it in favour of something else. I was in Screen 5 so was lucky enough that it was the first film of the day as I agree it could be easily lost in the midst of the noisier squelchier stuff, but I ...

Re: Frightfest's worst movie ever?

I wanted to suggest Tulpa for runner up because I didn't see SD3D and Bubba's Chilli Parlour is a shoe-in for the top spot, but as watching Tulpa was one of the most enjoyable parts of FF2012 (I think) I didn't really feel I should. It did make my sides hurt. Banshee Chapter was so execrable I tried...

Re: Show Pieces: Act of Faith, Jimmy's End, His Heavy Heart

My favourite Q&A too, possibly of all the Frightfest ones I've ever stayed for.

This was my favourite film of Saturday and I thought it was beautifully written, played and shot. Will be ordering the special edition DVD mentioned, especially I thought the soundtrack was a real highlight.

Re: V/H/S Viral

I hated the first one, liked the second one less still and only resignedly wandered into this because I was put off going to get some food by the atrocious weather. I actually really enjoyed it, probably because of the marked reduction in the terrible wobblecam that makes me nauseous - I hated the w...

Re: The Green Inferno

I did feel the movie missed a trick at the end as Samantha could have reappeared (it wasn't explained what happened to her was it?) or even had Justine being pregnant! I thought Samantha was the one they were fed in the little bowls - nothing happened to her on camera but the fragments of tattoos t...

Re: Thoughts on FrightFest @ Vue so far..

I haven't found the staff to be poor, although the lady at the head of the queue for Discovery tickets was struggling a bit on Thursday night - given the situation not that surprising, really. It's new for everybody, and I've felt very welcome and comfortable at the Vue so far. The atmosphere was bo...

The Canal

I nearly passed this up to watch The Den, and am very glad I didn't. Looked lovely but took a while to get going (or alternatively, lulled audience into false sense of security by being frustratingly slow and formulaic at the start) and turned into a real cracker with great jump scares and solid per...
