I was in Frankfurt two weeks ago an had the oportunity to go to some gigs at a local 'Youth Cultural Centre' - and they were the wildest gigs I've ever been to: Converge, Sonic Youth and Ted Leo/Pharmecists. Especially the kids swinging from the ceiling. The lack of hecklers was interesting - in fac...

I saw Hostel Part II yesterday and have mixed opinions on it. I don't think the girls were much more than stereotypical characters, but at least they were more sympathetic than the blokes in the first one. I actually thought that Derek Richardson's character was a nice change from the 'tards that i...

Lucio Fulci's Conquest. Awful: sub-Krull. La Scorta: Italian police thriller, OK, was expecting more violence and so on. The Sars Outbreak: Bankok Zombie Massacre (if that's the correct title!): mad Thai commedy, a lot of the jokes don't work, but it never takes itself at all seriously, ie one chara...

Right now? Well, I'm currently at work so it would just be the little voice whispering, "Kill, Kill, Kill. Kill them all!"

Currently the Valkyrians over and over again. Finnish ska - it's the first ska album I've bought for years and it's fantastic. Traditional ska, with a bit of two-tone, played by Helsinki mods and red skins. The Wild Eyes - mad post-punk from South Africa. Regina - synth pop from Finland. Token Entry...

Sunshine - pretty pointless, not much happens, but looks good, apart from the parts were you can't tell what's going on as the action is so jumpy. Best part were the Grindhouse and 28 Weeks Later trailers. Blades of Glory - pissed myself laughing - avoid if you're a movie snob with no sense of humou...

Just ordered the boxed set so Ican assure everyone that I'll be viewing some fantastic films in a couple of days. Also am going to order a copy of the After Dark Horror Fest boxed set which looks like it'll be good. And finally the premier of Brian Yuzna's Beneath Shallow Waters is on Zone Horror th...

Heroes/Lost

Now I've seen the first 3 episodes of Heroes. It's pretty good so far. I can see why it's compared to Lost but I think it's not going to be as good as Lost. Certainly not so far. This Siler fella seems pretty creepy! My favourite character is the teleporting Japanese dude, he's funny. The blondie c...

Hot Fuzz

Indeed, whilst I enjoyed it there were slightly less laffs than SotD. The beginning dragged a bit. Enjoyed the Argento-esque parts, especially the Suspiria style taxi ride into the village. And off on a tangent - hopefully Argento isn't using those kills from the killers point of view shots in The T...

Having discovered the naughty and guilty pleasures that is downloading things I can't get my hands on due to single region dvd's You can get a multi-region DVD player for £30 at ASDA. Various websites do them cheap as well. If they aren't multi-region auotmatically you can get a patch (worked for m...

(and anyone else over 25) can poke emo jokes at me Well seeing as emo - or post-hardcore as I prefer it to be called so people don't think I listen to the current fashionable tat;) - has been around since the mid-80's (Embrace, Rites of Spring, etc). An update: Gray Matter - Thog (my fave emo album...

Hmmmmm

Feast - I vaguely remeber someone having mentioned this before - but any enjoyable 80's influenced gore film, in the vein of Slither (in terms irreverance). Edmond - Stuart Gordon's latest, an adaptio of a Mamet play. Quite odd, but enjoyable - a arty farty Falling Down. The DVD box sells it as a sh...

Oh

I saw trail of the dead a few years back when they toured for their first album. Absolutely incredible live, reminded me a lot Sonic Youth. I haven't really heard much of their stuff on record though. Today its been: King Diamond - Fatal Portrait Marduk - Heaven Shall Burn When We Are Gathered Krea...
