Re: London 2012 Accommodation

I just look at High Hoborn and there is no problem with booking a room. However they are requesting a full payment up frony, they've presumably been stung by the very low deposits which they used to charge.

Re: Films for FrightFest The 13th 2012

ooh - has a film been pulled at the last minute??

In terms of potential films has The ABC's of Death been mentioned? I note that it's currently in post production.

Xavier Gans' Cold Skin is unlikely to show, as I don't belive it had actually started filming yet.

Re: Urban Explorers

Entirely predictable. The fact that I could understand quite a lot of the German didn't improve it. Took some time out for a snooze.

Re: Rabies

Awesome little film. Although not sure it really worked as a comedy - the laughs stopped after a while. To echo a comment elsewhere - this should have been on the main screen.

Rabies should also be in the poll.

The only good thing, and this was purely out of ghoulishness, was Honeysuckle Whatsername in the nud.

Loved this. But no-ones mentioned the soundtrack... it really worked for me. Dare is say that there were some giallo ellements to this film?

Re: The Innkeepers

I'm not sure what to make of this. It was well acted, the characters were sympathetic, but.... I really enjoyed House of the Devil and The Innkeepers is essentially the same film, but without the (more interesting) period setting and with a drab as drab finale. To quote a mate, "Is Ti West a one-tri...

Re: The Woman

In respect of the killing of the teacher.... who's to say he hasn't done similar things before? But yes, this was the one flaw in the film. I thought the character of the father and the boy were very well rounded - I can see sociopaths acting like that. Also I shall be purchasing the soundtrack when...

Re: Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark

A good looking film, but it annoyed me early on... the but where the girl gets grabbed by the builder made me shxt myself, but only because of the sudden banging sound. Also, those little pixie things - if I'd made the film it'd be a short, as the girl would squish them straight away.

This was another one of those films that got a free pass due to it being a UK film from a FrightFest buddy. It was fun, but shoould have been on early morning or as a late night showing.

Re: Kill List

Whilst I really did enjoy this film, then ending did annoy me. Not so much the hunchback (presumably she'd been told, "kill your husband and we'll let your child live"), but the bit where he started shooting at the crowd - it was a stupid thing to do as there were more people than bullets! And then ...

Re: Detention

Not sure why this one was so well recieved. It's what happens when someone is rich enough to fund their own film and then shove in story lines for 3 - 4 films. He also needs to get someone to edit it for him. A 90 minunte music video is nothing to be proud of.

Re: The Theatre Bizarre

The wrap arounds should have been ditched. The Douglas Buck segment stood out both because it was so superior to the others and also because it was in the wrong film. The Richard Stanley one was probably the poorest - not so much sub-Stuart Gordon, as sub-Brian Yuzna! At least the others tried for s...

"And without seeing it, we can only deal with it in theory. Sadly, it's less a discussion about freedoms and responsibilities and more the unedifying sight of a child in Tescos stamping their feet and screeching "Mummy! I want sweeties!" And no, personally I can't get that angry about it. Once more,...
