TBC Saturday 25th

Not to pester, but do we have any idea when the TBC film on the Saturday in the Cineworld screen at 23:30 will be announced? Getting quite curious, especially as we're only a few days away from the Discovery screen tickets becoming available :o

Re: FrightFest 2017 Schedulers

Ian replied on the facebook page to someone planning their clashes: I would hang off doing this if I was you. You're only going to have to do it again when I finally add all the exact timings in the run-up to the single tickets going on sale on 29 July. That sounds like the whole film order could c...

Re: Discovery Screen Tickets

Most of the discovery strand films will screen twice this year, going some way to compensating for lack of capacity. This is great news :) Will the second screening tickets go online the same time as the first screening or will the release be staggered somehow? Also, any plans to add second (or mor...

Re: 2017 Venue

Been to everyone since 2008 and the Empire was by far the best one but that was when screen 1 was massive with a great atmosphere before the IMAX but I'm still excited to see what this year will be like. Yep, 727 is still a lot of peeps but not the 1300 or so that there used to be. I'm sure the atm...

Re: 2017 Venue

Anybody been in the IMAX screen? They can be quite oddly designed - the one at Waterloo has very steep seating, and the lower seats are way too close to the screen. The Waterloo IMAX does indeed have a pretty steep rake to the seats but I think that's down to the squareness of the screen (i.e. it's...

Re: 2017 Venue

Very happy to hear this- I've really missed the place. I'm not too familiar with the screen sizes since the refit however. I know there's the massive laser-projected IMAX screen and another slightly smaller screen but don't know about the sizes of the other screens. Any idea how things will work? Ar...

Re: No more phone warnings?

They could easily just replay some of the "turn your bloody phone off" idents from previous years. The "Boo" ident was underwhelming and easy to ignore. There is literally nothing more distracting in a cinema than a phone screen being turned on because the light draws people's e...

Re: Did anyone else feel that the film descriptions in the guide are often misleading?

It's a shame we can't also have Ian's review in there to cut through the crap- at least one film he introduced this year he described as "It could be the biggest pile of shite ever" before clarifying "It's not, it's really not..."  Brilliant! Which film was that? I be...

No more phone warnings?

I was about halfway through Frightfest when I felt something was missing from the festival this year. Then I realised there hadn't been a single Turn Your Bloody Phone off advert before the films. Neither was there good old Ian shouting "And turn your f&@king phones off!" as the lights...

Re: Did anyone else feel that the film descriptions in the guide are often misleading?

Yep, I suppose they're always going to be written to get as many bums on seats as possible. If you can find any trailers or reviews for the films before choosing it makes decisions a lot easier and less blinkered. Of course, this is easier said than done when so many films are premieres in one form ...
