Re: The Loved Ones
Here you go, my interview with Sean Byrne - and I did ask him about the ending for you! http://www.chrisandphilpresent.co.uk/?p=5277 Great Interview, thanks a lot! I'm happy to see that at least they thought about the cut to black ending although I don't really agree with his arguments on why they ...

Re: The Loved Ones
Exactly. Ask him why he felt he needed to include that last scene with the mother and didn't just cut to black after they ran her over.Spencer wrote: did he feel pressured to give it the happy ending? I am assuming it was an indie production so no studio interference .....

Re: A very dodgy boat ride: Higanjima - escape from single genre
I know this but not many movies manage to pull this off e.g. look at Uzumaki. Good movie in itself but not very manga like in the making.Scrof the Return wrote: Well it WAS based on a Manga

Re: A very dodgy boat ride: Higanjima - escape from single genre
Didn't you hate that first they set up the characters so nicely during the chase sequence (chemistry guy throwing bombs, main guy sprinting and fighting, cute girl doing archery) and the following couple of minutes (best friend turning up with a baseball bat) and then didn't use this in the movie AT...
Re: F
Another surprise! Thought this would be just another home invasion type movie but was taken in by the black "faces" of the villians and their cat like movement. Although we could discuss on why the characters didn't leave the school, why they didn't defend themselves and what was the motiv...
Re: Primal
After 15min I thought I would hate this. That caveman opening sequence? Doesn't got much worse than that, looked like something out of a students project. Luckily enough soon after that this one got much, much better and really enjoyable to watch. The dialogues were hilarious and the plot as stupid ...
Re: Red Hill
Average movie. Too much western too little suspense. Some serious and very obvious editing issues/goofs (e.g. the burning haystack that got from smoldering to being a blaze to smoldering in 3 cuts) and some shoddy acting by the support cast. Good lead actor(s), obvious plot but well executed, some v...

Re: Isle of Dogs
The volume on this one, jeeez. The slang? Unbearable. The acting, well, not the worst but not really good either. The story? Forget it. "The Killer"? Going from badass to whimpy and back within 10 seconds. The sound mix? Horrible. Tried to be Tarantino meets Guy Ritchie, failed on both cou...

Re: Alien vs Ninja
Bloody mindless fun. Perfect late night movie.
Stupid? Yes, very much so.
Funny? Even more so.
Alien fighting that looks like fucking? Sign me up.
Hot chick with weapons? Hell yeah.
Alien penises ejaculating pink little Aliens? Hey, why not!
Much needed break from all the serious stuff.
8.5/10

Re: Monsters
Good movie in general but nothing exceptional and nothing I wanted to see at FF. This is fine if you want to take your girl on a night to the movies but as far as suspense/horror/scifi goes this one should be avoided. I don't really get all the hype. Yes, it was done on a shoestring budget, yes, it ...

Re: I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE
As far as revenge/torture go this was probably one of the best. I think that people are even going to like that if they know the original one and while not being perfect it was well enough done to "entertain" and not feel boring at any time. The revenges where all original and well execute...
Re: Dead Cert
Just terrible. Bad acting, a mess of a storyline, one of the worst lighting I have ever seen in a movie, forced slang, aweful vampires, stupid effects, one of the actors (I think) literally apologizing even before(!) the screening. All that for 1 Million? Unbelievable. Two points instead of one beca...

Re: The Tortured
Have to admit I didn't really get the ending. I understood they got the wrong guy but why he killed himself and why they didn't recognize, they got the wrong guy (his face/head wasn't THAT damaged after the accident) I can't understand. Including a dream sequence to show even more torture made me go...

Re: Dream Home
This could have been the perfect late night movie if not for the drawn out flashbacks. Yes, they set up the character, explained her motivations, served us a social commentary but less would have been more. The one with the kids (Asshole!) was cute as hell and worked perfectly, the one with the prot...

Re: The Loved Ones
Funny movie. Would have done better without some of the torture but most of it was hilarious. Good acting, funny and witty dialog, just the right amount of sweetness vs. total psycho The "dancing scene" with his feet nailed to the ground made me cringe :) Again (people might see a red line...
