Re: What Seat did you get? (2018)

Row K, near the middle. The furthest away I've ever sat, apart from a lone foray into the back row once at the Vue when it was practically empty and I fancied a sleep for an hour during something less-than-memorable :D

Re: Tickets for sale

I don't want to threadjack and it's your business CE, but I wouldn't use Paypal. Buyers have 120 days to do a chargeback, they're rarely if ever on the sellers side and I seem to vaguely remember that some selling a weekend pass already got fucked over like this in the last couple of years - there's...

Re: Discovery/first blood tks

I know they are usually but will the Discovery tickets be OK on phones? I won't be near a printer that soon before it starts.

Re: 2018 Lineup Announced

Was there a newsletter to announce the line-up? I don't seem to have received one even though I completed the recent GDPR email. Still, thanks to DJ Benz I can read the lengthy note and start plotting disco films! I've seen nothing, either. Luckily it turns out that my goldfish memory can hold exac...

Re: FrightFest 2018

I'm in too - Row K for a change (although somebody nabbed G32 out from under my nose not once but twice). Is no-one having a ticketing meltdown/rant this year? That's very disappointing! 😜 It is a bit of a letdown. I used to make sure I'd lined up a good couple of hours worth of snacks and drinks pl...

Re: FrightFest 2018

I'm sure virtually everybody reading knows this already but I didn't last year, so may be worth posting. If you haven't been in this IMAX screen before and are used to sitting quite near the front, I'd recommend moving a few rows back. I went for my usual Row C last year and the screen is so huge an...

Re: Goodbye. Doesn't feel like FrightFest anymore.

For me, the last true great FrightFest was 2014 - films like THE GUEST, THE BABADOOK, THE GREEN INFERNO, CREEP, COHERENCE and several others - all big, hyped films that had a real sense of anticipation about them. 2014 also had the fondly remembered Shockwave Darkside 3D, as well as the likes of Xm...

Re: 2018 Lineup Announced

There have been a couple of brief periods when they weren't working, but at the moment they all are except the link to Laplace's Demon Yes, all fine now here bar that one. I must have hit it at the dodgy time. I'm finding a lot to like already - Killing God, Terrified and Bad Samaritan plus One Cut...

Re: Accommodation

Covent Garden Hub breakfast isn't unlimited, just a choice from a reasonable menu for £5. Still much better value than anything else nearby though. Yeah, looking at CG (and Brick Lane) they seem to have a different system to the others, although it still looks good. I've stayed at Kings Cross, Good...

Re: 2018 Lineup Announced

Do we know when the individual film pages will be added to the links from the main schedule page? I made a brew in expectation of an pleasant hour reading through them all/starting a draft Discovery list and it's all just Not Found and 404 errors at the minute <impatient>

Re: Accommodation

Another one for the Hub Club. I got five nights at the Brick Lane one for £237 - it's not the nearest but at that price I could get an Uber back every night and still be ahead of most of the other options. It's less than ten minutes walk from Liverpool Street, the area is inexpensive with lots of go...

Re: Discovery Screen Tickets

I've found the way to do it is click on the orange dot if it allows me to and then ignore the error message that says 'sorry, this seat has been booked by somebody else' and sit it out; ditto with the confirmation/delivery screens. It's so unbelievably slow to catch up with itself that the 'somebody...

Shelley

Pretty to look at but incredibly dull and ponderous, with unlikeable characters to whom nothing really happened. Fell asleep.

Lost Solace

I liked this a lot - it was very slick and the lead was an engaging enough chap although the girlfriend was wetter than an otters pocket and started to seriously grate by the halfway mark. Nicely shot with interesting effects and terrific editing, but I have to say I'm not quite sure where the horro...
