Re: films we just saw

Let Me In I really liked it. I think for those coming to this for the first time they will love it. People who love the original will of course find fault with the US remake but to me it kept the feel of the original and was only slightly less subtle. It's only let down for me was some terrible CGI...

Re: films we just saw

Just back from The Hole 3D. Really loved it. Thought it would be much lighter considering it's a 'family movie' but it was enjoyably dark. Can't imagine my Niece and Nephew getting much sleep if they saw it! On the 3D aspect, I have always loved 3D, even back in the anaglyph days on TV but with the ...

Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

As horrible as that scene sounds not everyone wants to know exactly what is in the film and would prefer to judge for themselves. Your opinion of 'I've seen it, it's disgusting, no one else should see it' is exactly the sort of opinion causing the annoyance at the ban. At a film festival, especially...

Re: Piranha 3D (yay it's an 18 cert)

I really enjoyed Piranha 3D but agree the whole 3D effect in this case didn't enhance the experience. I had that annoying feeling of constantly wanting to wipe the glasses or the screen to make things clear. For me so far only IMAX 3D delivers although checking out a demo of a 3D TV in Selfridges I'...

Thanks Zombie, had never heard of that site. Pretty good selection of free films from all genres available too.

It should get me through a very quiet weekend at work! :D

Re: FRIGHTFEST 2010 LINEUP!!!

Ooh, going to avoid trailers I think, spoiled far too many 'twists' and surprises like that before.

Also tried not to read all of the synopsise as feel they sometimes give away too much.

From my general scan of the synopsise I'm pretty excited now!

Re: The State Of British Cinemas

Completely agree with all the comments on Cineworld. The last film I saw at the Troc one was Orphan last year. The house lights remained up for the first ten minutes of the film, people were still allowed in half an hour into the film. Also agree with the 'running commentary' comments and the fact t...

Re: what dvds are we buying?

About time I treated myself and to be fair I didn't spend much over about £120 for all that. 120 notes for that lot is some pretty canny shopping! I'm now stocking a videoshop, so litterally buying hundreds of films each week from disturbingly overpriced new releases to surprisingly affordable clas...

Interesting.

This seems to happen quite a bit in the film world where two films of a fairly unique subgenre get made around the same time. Always leaves one wondering if one pinched the idea off the other.

Deathwatch (2002) and The Bunker (2001) comes to mind.

Thanks for pointing this out, I'm a bit of a sad 3D geek and have sat through many a crap film just because I love 3D! The NFT had a 3D season a few years back which was great. Got to see Friday 13th 3D and the original House Of Wax 3D which has to be one of the best 3D films made. Can't wait for TV...

Liked this but not sure why. Guess I just enjoyed the effect the whole situation had on the characters in a 'what would you do?' sort of way.

Quite bleak but enjoyable. Not quite sure how it will be marketed if it is to get a full mainstream release...

Actually enjoyed this one. Felt it was aimed at the teenage 'Twilight' crowd but also felt it had a bit more of an edge to it than most teen films.

I enjoyed the script and good to see Mamma Mia's lead girlie in something a bit different.
