There's a new Five Guys in Piccadilly Circus, in the Trocadero building on the corner near Picturehouse Central (turn right coming out of the Empire)

Re: Booked

I was in two minds about coming this year, and I was out of the country yesterday (at the very nice Il Cinema Ritrovato festival in Bologna :D ) so couldn't book.

But since there were still weekend passes available this afternoon including a nice aisle seat it seemed rude not to go for it.

Re: THROUGH the Shadow

I liked it - very stylishly made although to be honest it didn't add anything to all the other versions of "Turn of the Screw" I've seen (my favourite being the Britten opera, he said pretentiously :green: )

Re: Johnny Frank Garrett's Last Word

I agree with the point above - really enjoyed the film but reading up on the real case afterwards made me a bit uncomfortable (didn't realise while watching it that Garrett was a real person). The real case does appear to have been a miscarriage of justice, but implicating real people (or fictional ...

Fury of the Demon

Really enjoyed this documentary about a lost silent film that drives people mad when they see it. Well, it was billed as a documentary - in fact it becomes evident a couple of minutes in that it isn't for real, as the events described as happening in 2012 when a mysterious American film collector tu...

Re: Vue West 12 vs Vue West End

The lack of passing trade doesn't surprise me so the move back is understandable as a commercial decision. Hopefully they can think about how to replicate some of the upsides of this year's venue back in Leicester Square. I see the BFI is having to deal with the shrinking availability of decent scre...

Re: No more phone warnings?

That was me moaning about chatty woman - I think I may have been sitting behind you in E5, we chatted before Train to Busan? Yes, it was infuriating and I agree with you I couldn't work out a way of intervening that wasn't going to be more disruptive than the original problem! I miss the old idents ...

Paul McEvoy posted on twitter earlier ...
Interesting @FrightFest Fact. IF we were in Leicester Square our Opening Night would have been a disaster as there was a huge power cut.

Re: Vue West 12 vs Vue West End

I always got served pretty quickly in Wetherspoons despite how crowded it was.

A few people mentioned the issues around the post-Carnival crowd - this was a bit difficult on Sunday and Monday post-last film. Only downside of the location for the Bank Holiday weekend.

Re: Quality of films this year

This blog from Alan is an interesting read on the topic of some of the "big name" films http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/alan-jones2/horror-schizophrenia_b_11778778.html? Maybe I'm reading too much between the lines but perhaps some of the major studios don't want to premiere their films at...

Yes, thanks to all involved!

I think this was my favourite frightfest so far - been coming since 2008, not made it every year though. I spent about 50% of the time in Discovery screens which might have helped :)

I thought my view might have been controversial but clearly not! Everyone I spoke to over the weekend felt the same too. A few tweaks needed but generally it was great.

Found the downstairs loos by Morrisons - much better than the ones upstairs. Clean and spacious. Only problem
Is they close when the shops close so shut around 5 yesterday - not sure what the situation will be today

Vue West 12 vs Vue West End

So how are people finding the new venue? I'm surprised to say I'm finding it works better than the West End on balance - Pros: We have the whole cinema, much more of a festival / community feel All screens I've been in are a good size including disco screens Easier to move between screens as they ar...

Re: Advice for Loner Newbie

Yes, plenty of people here on their own so don't worry about it! If you're picking up a day pass there was a bit of a queue this morning so worth allowing plenty of time before the first film.

No problem bringing food and drink from outside, not sure about booze though

Have fun!
