So presumably we saw the 15 version?

I have to say I thought the gorier bits seemed not to fit with the general tone of the film anyway.

Class divides, Daily Mail backlashes, whatever... Eden Lake is utterly uncomfortably brilliant. I just hope Watkins hasn't peaked with his first film. Well, he certainly didn't peak with his first script(s) - My Little Eye was so-so, but Gone was utter bobbins. Happily he got it right with his firs...

You're so right.

But now you're making me want to waste money buying them both on DVD...

I personally just enjoyed the severity of it and the fact there was no let up in the aggression That's what made it boring for me (at least for most of the middle part of the film)... but a film must have some value if it provokes so many different reactions and responses. I must say, good comment ...

I'm still struggling with this concept of Eden Lake as a right-wing, middle-class, Daily Mail, etc movie which portrays an "entire class" in a negative light. We see a few arsey teenagers and their immediate families. They're not very nice people - so f***ing what ?? Who's to say they are ...

"Strangers" became Rogue’s first breakout hit, and the genre division of Focus Features is approaching the sequel as a franchise that could have the legs of "Saw" or "Scream." Oh god, I think I'm going to be sick. "Yeah, great film, let's fuck it up by making a st...

I don't really understand why having a few gobby chavs in a movie has provoked such a big debate. Why is that demonstrative of a "right-leaning agenda"? If you watch any drama featuring businessmen, senior police officers or politicians, they are almost without exception portrayed as corru...

There are always foxes making noise around my place, especially in the late spring when the cubs are starting to grow up.

Here's a thing. Someone who saw another screening said that the author and director said in Q&A that Eli was a girl. Maybe they were talking about the actress ? He did say quite clearly at Frightfest that the character Eli is actually a boy. Not that it matters much - I'd say "vampire"...

Ok, so this film wasnt great ... and yes had a few plot holes, but bloody hell people sit back and be entertained OR dont watch it if you think its that crap!! I was really starting to get annoyed with the laughing as I was actually enjoying the film in my own way and thought that amount of laughin...

i promise - myself, alan and pascal upon returning to the cinema before the end were greeted by a handful of folks running to the bathrooms. If I was one of those folks, I was only taking the opportunity for a piss because I was bored with the torture scenes.* I didn't hear anyone being sick, but t...

Re: The Broken

But, thinking about it the following morning, it did occur to me that my verdict would probably have been very different if, say, the cast were Korean and the lovingly-shot cityscapes had been Seoul. I'm fairly sure I would have attributed the apparent lack of logic, plot and motivation to the cult...

I wanted to like it, it was well made, quite atmospheric and the lead actor held it all together very well. The grim, strangely quiet estate reminded me a bit of Candyman, or rather Clive Barker's original story. Also of some of Ramsey Campbell's short stories. But ultimately I didn't think the horr...
