Re: Purchasing Tickets

Like Jay (hi Jay!) we were there just as the weekend and day pass aisles sold out. There are unsold aisle seats on the far left and right of the auditorium at the back of the circle. We were told these are for single ticket sales, but the ones we got were better seats - more central. So if your part...

Re: Kill List

I enjoyed it immensely, although I now regret not having the courage to ask a few pertinent questions during the Q&A, such as: - 1 - why do his victims thank him? 2 - who is he? (as in "does your friend know who you are?") 3 - what was actually going on? Did it remind anyone else of Angel Heart? Go...

Re: The Wicker Tree

Was this a joke? No really was it? Not quite Giallo standard of giggling but giggleworth none the less. Though it was a joke right? Yes it was. Nice of them to tell us so before the film. Afterwards we might not have believed them! (Actually I found it mildly amusing in places. Still wish they'd go...

Re: Good behaviour

I do not believe the other thread references everyone as being badly behaved. Sorry that you feel the need to be defensive here, Lou, but having a thread to celebrate the good behaviour hardly seems to contradict any comments that might have been made about bad behaviour of a few. There were 1400 p...

Re: Breaks

I missed the first 15 mins of The Woman because we had to get some food (well done to the New World Inns for getting us our food and out the door within 30 mins like we asked !)

One break of an hour allowing for Q&As would have been handy, but we managed to bring our food in most days.

Good behaviour

The fact that so many of the film makers stick around and chat must be down to Frightfest attracting such charming people (by a vast majority). Not bad for a horror fest! We'd just like to say how friendly everyone was, how helpful the staff and volunteers were, how splendid the pub around the corne...

Re: Inbred

You know, as much as this was my least favourite film, and I agree with the comments on the actual film, I don't think it's fair to refer to the cast and their friends as sycophants. This was their premier, and they were clearly enjoying themselves much like the audience in the film. We could have g...

Re: Top 5

Not in order as that keeps changing

Kill List
Troll Hunter
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark
The Innkeepers
The Woman

(Rabies, Tucker & Dale, and Chillerama get my votes for the fun category, Dead Heads might've, but towards the end it just creeped into John Hughes mawkishness rather than send up.)

Re: The Wicker Tree

I do feel this suffered from the Wicker Man links being shoehorned into the story and the hype. Next time I go to Fife (Bonfire Night instead of Halloween this year!) I'll have fun with the C&W singer sent to save the "Lost Folks of Scotland" line :-) Did anyone else hope that the dummy winked like ...

Rabies

I can't really vote in the best discovery thread, as this was the only one I saw. And it was excellent. Covered several themes from the main screen much better than those other films did. Very funny dialogue, likable cast (even the unlikable character!) and a very subtle joke underlying the whole st...

Re: Chillerama

I loved it: late night, (small) bottle of JD, frightfest crowd, a series of film pastiches* done with affection and fun.

(I'll go for Mel Brooks, John Waters, David Cronenberg and George Romero.)

No reviewing the film.
