Re: Saturday

So you didn't catch "The Harvest" or "Life after Beth"?

Shame. Both are terrific and the latter is perhaps my highlight of the festival

After an uneven start to this year's 'Fest, Saturday turned out to be one of the great FF days.

Frightfest's worst movie ever?

Until yesterday, I was confident that the answer was "Bubba's Chilli Parlour".

Then I saw "Shockwave Darkside"

So: what's your nomination for the worst Frightfest movie ever?

Let it out: you know you'll feel better...

Re: Shockwave Darkside 3D

I stayed for the duration, but only because I couldn't believe what I was watching. Hyperbole is fairly common on Internet forums, but I can honestly say that this was the worst movie I've ever seen. I genuinely cannot imagine the circumstances in which something this crass, infantile, ill-conceived...

Re: FrightFest 2014

If the largest screen is 700 seats, then an obvious solution seems to be sell 700 weekend passes, and keep that screen for premieres and guests. With screens 2-4 for Discovery films and repeats. But I guess a certain percentage needs to be for day passes... How many weekend passes were onsale last ...

Re: All-Nighter 2013 Information

Good news from Ian: "We're getting there. You can now book at the cinema in person and on the phone on 08712 240 240 - press 0 to avoid the automation once connected. Still working on the online booking." I can confirm that the phone option works, as I'm now the proud owner of a ticket. Yo...

Re: All-Nighter 2013 Information

Ian just responded to my query on Facebook as follows:

"Working on this now. Waiting to hear from Vue Cinemas. Typically for a big company they out source their IT/Box office services so they need to chase them on our behalf."

Fingers crossed...

Re: The Banshee Chapter 3D

The 3D was a real problem, in a technical sense with the documentary footage at the start, and throughout whenever we switched to found-footage mode. Maybe it would have been a different story if they'd restricted the use of 3D to the "real" sequences?

Re: The Dark Tourist

Yeah i couldnt agree more. Sunday on the main screen was a really poor show. I slept through most of it, and the group next to me left midway through at least two of the films. I found that there was a lot of films on this year that probably shouldnt have been at a horror film festival. Conspiracy ...

Re: In Fear

It's gratifying to see demonstrated that an effective, tense and powerful movie can be made on a low budget without resorting to horror cliches or zombie travelogues. Like The Missionary, this movie was sufficiently self-confident to rely on a slow build-up and a climax which, in exercising restrain...
